Sounds just like my scenerio almost 4yrs ago. I had an eta and was looking for a LM iS, but found an M3 that was just too good to pass up. Good luck with it!! :)

i want to keep the car OEM it already has bilstien and eibachs, and a dinan chip (to be replaced with a conforti)

looks really clean, but the only thins i that i think it looks much better with the black stripe left on the bumers, possibly some grabber green on the right quarter panel, and a black right fender, and oh ya, no skirts....

Awesome...I'm happy for you. I think I've seen this car for sale for around $6000 or so? if it's the same car. I kinda went from an ETA to M3 too several years ago so I know the feeling. I clearly remember staring at the fender flares in the side mirrors thinking damn, I'm finally in an M3 and not a 325 now. Looks like a clean Henna to me. Besides I think Hennarot was the only red available for early M3's. What does the paint sticker say?

Zinnoberot replaced Hennarot in late 88 (not manufature date, but model date).

So there are both Henna and Zinno M3s for 88.

In the first picture, the car does look like a Zinnoberot but it's sometimes too hard to tell in pictures.
