I'm running 17x8.5 et11 with a 205/40 and they never rub, even if I pulled the adjusters off my 4" springs. Fenders are barely even rolled. I'll probably be able to fit about a 5mm spacer even once I roll them.
Try it out, it's cheaper than new wheels anyways.Byron

Nope, if i go up a driveway or something steep, one wheel will hit the inside of the fender and lock up, and the other one will start doing a burnout. as for the front, spacers would mean i would have to drive in a straight line.Comment

All of those cars have evo front fenders, which have atleast 1.5"-2" higher arch clearance than your car.
You say measuring ride height by the front lip is wrong, Yet its ok for you to judge it by how much "tire is tucked" under the fender.. ?

How bout you measure how much ground clearance you have at the subframe then? That's probably the most "universal". You could probably have the frame on the ground before tucking tire depending on wheel/tire size.
OP you can't be serious, you drag the exhaust, you can't go up driveways or speedbumps without locking up one tire and doing a peg-leg burnout, and you actually think your car is cool?

So a car that is ok with you can't have any of these items? Because pretty soon, my car is also going to have red calipers and a light tint, and my lip is already painted.
But if that isn't your idea of how a E30 should be good, then too fucking bad for you. It's not your car. You and your list of "acceptable and not acceptable" items for an E30 can get bent. And the same goes for the rest of the self-proclaimed "what's ok on an E30" police in this thread.
Or would you have painted it flat white, and spray-bombed your wheels flat black. No, because you have taste.
It is his car and he is able to do what he wants with it, But if no one honestly tells you, "Hey that looks like shit." now and then, how would we be able to refine our tastes into building a cleaner car?

Those cars are Sport Evo M3s in racing trim. In that configuration or previous equivalent onesthey had a win percentage which, I believe, still remains unmatched. BMW ran them as works cars from 1987 to 1991 and that is a very significant portion of why an M3 is considered an M3 and a BMW is considered the way it is today.
The point is, if there were any need to go any lower, those cars would be lower. They are not.
So your car is lowered for looks, to the obvious detriment of function. And as such, posted on a public forum, it's subject to be judged on looks alone. On that basis, I concur with the previous poster: it looks ridiculous on top of being undeniably ruined functionally. If you like it, more power to you, but by posting on a forum you did invite opinions. This is mine.Comment

Because sacrificing function that much in the name of personal aesthetic appeal (heavy stress on personal, I for one find it very bad looking but that part is just my opinion) should not be at the top of many people's lists: cars are devices which exist to be driven as a primary purpose.
Furthermore, having that little knowledge about the E30's history and what and how makes it work and still modifying that to that extent leaves me even more perplexed.
I do realise it takes all kinds, but I believe I have as much right to an opinion on a public forum as the OP, right?Comment
