@KERSHAW: Ya I have been in touch with Yun. I wanted to go last Friday but the wife rather I stay at home. I have been working a lot and my free time is limited. I will be catching up with you soon. My next open Friday I think is the first one in DEC. If it ain't raining I will prob be there with the top down.
@Boomer: Thank you. I know where to get 'em new. I am frugal. I'll be checking the junkyards and classifieds waiting on a deal, good timing.
Today was an hour or so with the car. The black kick panels sold to me are the incorrect fit. These must be from a four door? or maybe even a difference between 2 door and cabs? So I got a set of black kick panels if anyone needs 'em. $25 down the drain.
I did score the cassette rear console. Everything works and is in great condition. Vinyl is peeling up a little but that is from the bottom and not noticeable as it sits. I had to cut for the heated seat switches.
And a cool random picture of the generations:
Tomorrow getting my new key blanks cut. Maybe a trip to Crazy Rays.Last edited by CabrioPunk; 11-15-2010, 11:03 AM.Comment

That is an auction lot off of Lynn Buff Court in Laurel. They had 2 325i and 2 5ers. All marked dealer only. They were a bit rough anyhow. I was there helping a buddy find his next car.
That was a lot of the fun I had at Crazy Ray's, spotting the E30s.Comment

they are different between convertible and 2 door e30 coupes

Today's mod. Problem was my ugly front plate bracket that hung down low. While at Crazy Ray's I came across this piece on an E28. I realized with some modifications I could make it work. Dremeled several bits off the back and now it fits rather well.
What I am working towards is one of those thin BMW raised lettering plates color matched or so to fill in this piece.
Also replaced the glove box interior roof piece with a fresh one I found. Cleans up the melted on duct taped one the PO did.
Car cover too was snugged down with some Harbor Freight buys.
Next up is a BMW plate for up front like BavAuto sells, still want natur tan leather headrests to install them to the rear, paint/dye my trunk carpeting to clean up the PO's paint spills and while I am at it the glove box carpeting/fuzz.Comment

Thank you. This is a car I often lusted after. White with the blue top. 5 spd. E30. Perfect! Now just trying to give it justice. Return it to its original glory with some extras along the way.
Found it! This is the piece I am in search of.

Great luck at Crazy Ray's recently. Restored this MTech1 steering wheel:
Before:
After:
I cleaned it with Poorboy's APC. Scrubbed it. Wiped with isopropyl alcohol. Set in the sun after dying it with Kiwi new shoe shine in a bottle with foam applicator. New MTech badge from eBay. Buffed with Poorboys Natural Look. Mint! All leather is restored to a consistent black. Stitching is tight and was cleaned up with a lighter for any strays. Feels great. Looks great. This thing is new condition. Total no more than $40.
Also waiting to go into my interior: black door pulls and map pockets, tan headrests with rear bracket kit, new old stock natur floor mats from Levent, Creative Options shift and e-brake boots in black leather with German Flag stitching, leather e-brake handle.
Still need cassettes. Considering pedals and/or a dead pedal. Short shifter and just a total shifting restoration. Repair OBC light. Find old school shift knob.. either wood or door knob.Last edited by CabrioPunk; 12-24-2010, 05:09 PM.Comment
