I read of the alcohol from my leather restoration Googling. I see it is a final stripping agent to rid of hand oils, quickly drying and leaving a bare surface to dye. The wheel looks great. I know there are kits out there to restore or rewrap but I love to give the tired original new life.

Copy the thrift stores. Maybe after Christmas folks will return their cassettes... gonna be fun to Chase them down.

Nice find, and the resto is coming along well. You mentioned doing a treatment for the convertible top, what does that entail?

From reading Autopia and other detailing forums there is a two step product I keep seeing. It is to be recommended by the major convertible top manufacturer. RaggTop.

I will vacuum the top, clean, dry then protect with as many layers I can. I could just use PBs Natural Look or an Aerospace 303 - something with UV protection - but I will buy the specific product since it comes with such high recomendations.

The plastic window will be clayed inside and out then polished. Hopefully to a crystal clear finish. I clayed the outside plastic during my initial detail with nice results; the clay really pulls out crud! I did not focus on the top however with any more detail.

Thanks for tbe compliments guys. Lots of parts stacking up in the closet. All cosmetic, interior bits. Eyeing up wheels and need suspension. Also need an engine refresher. For now it is under a car cover, shivering cold.

Any advice fellas let me know please!

I caved into the stash of interior parts sitting.

Previously mentioned MTech Steering wheel installed.

Tan headrests fell through. Still in need of 'vert natur tan leather headrests in good condition.

Steering rack I think is the only leak causing the wet underbody. I will keep it topped off and consider a rebuilt replacement or upgrade. Will research the steering racks.

Mats fell through. Not proper fit.

Removed some trim pieces for refinishing (grill, kidneys, wipers, vents in front of wipes, timing belt cover). Wanted to remove the hood insulation for treatment too but ended up not being as simple as I hoped. Had to buzz off to work.

Fun time at the junk yard today.

Surprised myself with this coin holder which cleaned up nicely. Right match for my interior, too.

Accessories brochure which is a bit sun faded but will fit nicely in the glove box.

Found a car full of tapes. Just picked out these for the time being to fill my console. The unboxed one is Paul Simon's Graceland. Not sure if any keepers.

Found a BMW Tape Cleaning kit, too. It was left behind. Missing the tape and the holder for it was nasty. Fun to come across one.

There is a gorgeous and yet totally devastated L7 in the yard. Since I don't have the time or ability or really interested to restore leather dashes I was going to go small as I try and restore the L7 badge. Figure it will be fun. Got the backing material cleaned out. Though the Dremel would sand the finish off since it is so pitted but results not what I expected.

Several parts I removed yesterday from up front have been dyed with Bondo's Restore to Black. Product looks nice. Some streaking noticeable up close. I applied three coats. I am really more interested in the longevity of it. Wiper arms were painted. I had high heat flat black around. I may need to go satin or at least clear coat to give some shine. They all look great.

Need to dye the bumper trim and black the door handles.

First time I ever saw an L7. Cool car but I don't know if any of the leather dashes ever survived...
