so Danny, you think he should go ahead and stick with the M10 and just turbo it in the future, because i know for a fact he is asking for suspension stuff for christmas and if he went m50 wouldnt he have to redo his springs due to the weight differences?

No he wouldn't have to redo springs if he swapped a 6cyl in, it would be negligible.

I'd stick with the M10 over an M50 anyday, best bang for the buck IMO.

Everything Danny said here is 100% correct (damn, I feel dirty all of a sudden). The M10 is a much stronger platform for turboing and is a much much cheeper engine all around. Just think 2002 Turbo and the E30 M3, which is M10 based.
If the OP wants maximum power for the minimum hassle, turbo M10 is definatley the way to go.

lol, you can get pretty good numbers on stock motronic and stock internals. You can push 12 psi on stock Motronic, so I've heard.

any one know any info on possibly getting a turbo and intercooler and what piping you can from pull a part and peicing it together on an m10, would it work, how much cutom fab would need to be done (other than headers, buy those offline)?

get a turbo from an old volvo or saab and it's intercooler. you could get a K03 off a VW guy if he's upgrading turbos...

you won't need headers -- you can flip over the exhaust manifold and put a turbo flange on the collector, it's what 2002 guys do. It's log style so you'll get one end really hot, but it's cheap as fuck.

I have 30# injectors from my old 1995 turbo volvo, which is nice to compensate for the higher fuel need. You'll need some management, at the very least a wideband.

after that, you're talking about a downpipe and IC pipe and intake pipe fabbing. Then you need your coolant and oil. RRFPR wouldn't hurt either to compensate for the turbo charge in the intake.

I'm sure I'm missing something, but that's the basics.
