Drove it home last night and parked it in the garage.
Started inspection.
(I helped my friend with the pre-purchase inspections, but I forgot how relatively rust free this car is...)
Lotsa moisture and water in the trunk, he had it parked outside since December, and we've gotten decent precipitation. I pulled the carpet, and mouse fur to look at the bashed in section and discovered about 2 inches of water in the jack holder area. Soaked most of it up and left trunk open in garage to dry it out. Will have to take pictures soon. I think I can beat the dent out pretty well. Holy shit, is there a lot of tar in the trunk! It looks like roughly DOUBLE the amount that was in my regular e30...
Took a quick look at the boots on the front halfshafts. Inner boot on RF halfshaft is torn. :(
Wonder if I'll find more torn boots.
Driving it home, it has a LOUD RF wheel bearing. I've never had a bad one on the front before, but it sounds just like one on the rear. WowWowWow, speed dependent. (I'm sure the EIGHTEEN INCH wheels that were on the car when my buddy bought it didn't help. Thanks for the 15" weaves, Levent!) Guess that B90 tool is gonna get some work.
Engine bay is clean, but there is a small oil leak that I need to track down.
I'm ordering boots, brakes, and bearings all around from Blunt to start.
Gotta figure out how to gauge the health of the 4WD system, change fluids, etc.
I'll do an air 'dyno' to see what kind of 4WD action I can check out. I'm still mystified by the system.
Levent is supplying a tail light.
I have plastic bumpers already. (rear bumper from 2 e30s ago, I knew I held onto it for a reason!)
I think I'm going to try my Monaco seats on for size in this car, they don't quite fit the e28.
I have a spoon in the spaghetti shifter, that should be fun to rebuild.
.... and CLEAN, of course.
I'll be posting pics later.
