Congrats on the car, definitely a clean one... Now on the contrary of what you and others are saying, there's really nothing cool about diving boards...

    ...or Rotas.

Get some plastic bumpers and some non-Philippine made knock-off wheels asap.

Big disagreement here... Wheels set off the bumpers. Put on plastic bumpers and it looks like every other 89-91 325iS. The 88 325iS is a 'special' car IMO. Once I saw it I fell in love. It doesn't look like any other E30. It's so easy to swap plastics that everyone does it.

Wheels... look phenomenal and are not a standard fitment. There are NOT a lot of 16x8 et20 fitment wheels out there in 4x100. The 'real' versions are 16x7 et40... no thanks. Need a 20mm or 30mm spacer.

I'll bite - how is it a 'special' car? The only ones I'd consider special are the iX, m3 and the 318iS - what separates it aesthetically from any other 325iS ?

It was only made for half a year with diving boards. Every other late model chassis after had plastics.

The 'lifespan' is something like 6? Or 8 months. It IS a 1989 325iS in everyway. Headlights. Lower arches. Front and rear metal valance... BUT it has 'tucked' metal bumpers. Looks great IMO.

If a 318iS is special... an 88 325iS has to be....

Wheels set off the bumpers? The wheels are $400 filipino knockoff wheels that even your average honda enthusiast wouldn't want to be caught dead with on their car... I agree that polished wheels match the bumper, but I wouldn't go so far as to say the wheels help the car in any way. There are plenty of wheels that can be had in good sizing for a reasonable price that aren't cheapo ricer wheels.

All that aside, I do think that this car pulls off the diving boards better than any I've ever seen, but I'd still say that plastics would greatly improve the look of the car. As for wanting to preserve how "special" the car is, anyone that wanted to could pair a diving board with the late model lower valence, but I think there is a reason not many people do.

I have a plastic bumper with an early model front lip... Not because it's special, but because I think it looks good. If this were some kind of collectors car then I could understand wanting to keep it all stock and original, but this isn't really the case, and you've modified the rest of the car anyways.

Regardless, the car is clean and I'm glad it went to someone that will preserve it and keep the build going.

This has been said before... PLEASE point me to a 4x100 that is 'reasonable' in an offset that is decent. I got them used for 500 dollars. The Group Buy for this sizing was more than that. It fits a 225.45.16 which is the same size as the stock rolling rubber. The car sticks on this setup. It also puts them right out flush with the fender because of the wheel specs.

The car was built for a specific reason. To be able to beat the hell out of it, stuff as much tire as possible INSIDE the fenders and have no rubbing. Ever. This wheel fit the looks department AND the function department. No complaints here. And yes the wheels match the bumpers and the trim and really match well with the paint color.

You are entitled to that opinion, because where as the appearance of my car is subjective, the quality of rotas is not.

Regardless, I never claimed my car looked good as of right now, it's a long way from the point where it will even see paint, thus why it is only posted in the project forum.

I will in fact not shut up and continue share my opinion, don't like it? Kiss my ass... I don't know or care what you do drive, but you are welcome to put in your .02 if you want to actually contribute something to this discussion rather than just talk shit.

949 racing, bbs rs, work equip, ssr longchamp, weds mesh, enkei racing, enkei j speed, ssr reverse/formula mesh, etc. can all be had in similar size/offset for less than $1500, and they are good quality nice looking wheels.

I don't care how cheap you got your rotas, they're still rotas. That's like bragging about how cheap you bought a Yugo... You got them cheap because the cost fits the value of the wheels. And since the wheels are one of the most noteable things on the car it cheapens the look of the whole car.

Link me... please. Reasonable to me is sub 1K. And please... I have heard this 'similar size' before. It is 16x7 et41... BUT you could swap lips. Now you are 2K into a set of wheels. Sorry. Or better yet they are actually sort of close to the specs but need a full refresh and look like hell... I am not some 'noob' to the car modding game... I had ACS Type 1 Rennsports on my 96 328iC.

The Ground Controls, BBK, 24V Swap, Trans Swap, LTW Flywheel/clutch and a fresh interior was more important than impressing some people on the internet that care about a wheel brand. The budget was there to spend on wheels but I just didn't care. Polished. 5 Spoke. 16x8 et20. DONE. Did not care what the brand was.

Sorry it 'cheapens' the look for you. With that said you have a black bumper, blue valance and a playboy windshield banner... Hard to make a comment like 'cheapens the look' IMO.

Nice FD, should have stuck with the rotary if it wasn't a DD.

I'm not going to waste time searching the Internet on my phone, but look at vrwheels, memoryfab, yahoo japan, honda-tech, club roadster, etc. Do your own homework.

You say you spent money on important things like a clean interior, but can't dish out an extra couple hundred for decent wheels? I think there's a lot more relying on your wheels than your interior, but you've got your priorities straight right?

As for my car, clearly you're too dumb to realize that I'm not painting the car until I get all the parts together, and too dumb to read that I put the sticker on as a joke... Regardless, unlike you I'm not rocking the Honda ricer wheels, and unlike you I'm capable of letting someone post an opinion without throwing a hissy fit. Especially considering how many times I said I like the car.

With that said I'm done trying to explain my opinion, because you clearly want to make it a pissing contest. And steve I apologize for cluttering up your thread.

You seem to not be grasping the concept. Auto-X. Spirited Driving. Track events. Etc. Not impressing you with how much I spent on my rare wheels... That was low importance for ME. You seem to want me to have modded my car to better suit what you want. In my opinion your Equips look well... terrible. The dish is nice but the 4 spoke design doesn't look good. My Rotas look better... now we have both tossed out random opinions. Look where we are ;)

Your post was barely a compliment. You knocked the bumpers and knocked the wheels and said "It is clean". Don't pretend it was some compliment.

I built the car for me and honestly had a LOT of interest when it went up for sale. Someone even flew form New York just to test drive it. Every nut, bolt, bushing, arm, bearing etc. All was replaced. Wheels were NOT of the super highest priority. Sorry that doesn't fit your 'build' on a car you would be doing.

Carry on. Can't wait to see what Steve does... even if it is a plastic bumper swap.
