It's one of my rears... which weren't in that great shape to begin with. The original fronts are fucked beyond repair and I just didn't want to be steppin all over the carpets. Will get this addressed in due time.

No worries, heh. I have grey mats on tan carpet in the newest four door addition to my stable. Shit happens ;)

Nice work bro. I used to work in a detail shop, and now do it as a side business, so I can certainly appreciate the hard work you put into it !

Nice to see someone else into detailing as well. Looks great! I can vouch that it is all in the prep work. Proper masking is a must. I have been paid to do a few cars but it is just so much work. 20+ hours in some cases ...

Good job on the painting too. That is something I have been interested in for a while, but have never got around to doing.

              Obligatory reflection shot:

Awesome work! That Griots orbital system works incredibly well. I've done my current car with it and the outcome is pretty phenomenal. Hopefully picking up my first E30 this week and actually looking forward to detailing the hell out of it.

Very very nice work there sir. I must do the same to my car if I ever get a garage and space.

I've been paid to do a few cars. It would take me a full day to do a 3 stage with clay and an interior. I don't charge enough. Most of the time I just do a high quality one stage depending on the expectations from the customer.

Paint looks wonderful man, you've inspired me to follow through with touching up my own paint. Looks like you didn't have to deal with any rust so that's always a plus. Looking forward to pics with new wheels.

There was a dab of surface rust at one of the seams under the door which I touched up with primer and painted over with a brush. Then again, I can't expect perfection with a 21 year old daily-driven, salt-ridden midwestern car.

nice work man. I've detailed for several years now, but much like others here I've been thinking about doing small paintjobs myself for years...still haven't pulled the trigger on some equipment. when you said you touched up the scratches before sparying, did you actually use filler or just add paint to those grooves?

Some of the spots I sanded away to bare metal, and them primed with self etching primer. Then I wet sanded that smooth and applied paint over with a brush. Then after it had hardened, I wetsanded with 1000 to level it, and continued with 1500 and 2000 and then buffed over it.

Here is a shot of a 2" wide spot that had no paint and surface rust had been forming. You can barely tell anything was there...

Ah, not concurs quality, but great solution when you're sprucing up your daily. I may have to take page from your book for my hood rock chips. So this is single stage then, no clear?

Yeah, single stage brilliantrot. This wouldn't be as easy or feasible with clear coat paints. But my car is no show winner by any means, so I'm rather content :-D
