Here is a shot of a 2" wide spot that had no paint and surface rust had been forming. You can barely tell anything was there...

I did the Z3/318ti antenna mod on my wife's car, but before I finished the install I needed to take care of the typical surface rust that was there. I ground off all the rust down to bare metal and then used bondo to fill. Bought some high build primer and a premixed rattle can of Schwarz--which the guy told me was true straight black with no other colors mixed in btw. I read on another forum about how to blend in the paint by curling up the edges of the masking tape along the inside edge so that the paint feathers out and doesn't leave an edge. Did you just use a brush and then sand/buff? Anyone have experience with this? Also wondering if I should invest a a couple paint guns or can I get a good finish with the rattle can?

Your technique is definitely correct, but I kinda rushed mine. I brushed mine off and sanded the spot, it worked decently- obviously spraying it would've worked better, but I was too lazy to mask off half a car to spray a spot 2" wide (guns have a lot of overspray).

A rattlecan with pre-mixed automotive paint should work well too.

              Also:

TBH, I wish I had gone with a tire brand that doesn't run small (these are Falken 512s) and that I went 215/55 or 215/50 instead of what I have now (205/50). But this is my first time with a lowered e30, and now I see why 16"s are the preferred size. Not to mention that my coils (JOM) are dialed all the way down all around.

No, you can't have the brake fans. Well maybe, but if you have to ask, you probably can't afford them.

Switch out to some lower coils? I see exactly what you're talking about, but the car looks so clean it's okay. :)
