Just an FYI, make sure you're good at soldering before attempting this. The board is very small and requires some precision. My friend (an EE) did all the soldering for me bc I suck at it.
Also to make the holes, I used a drill bit and then a dremel to trim them. The units are just compression fit and are very snug. The shrink wrap on the inside keeps them from coming out even with force.Leave a comment:

excellent idea! I just might have to throw this in while the car is down.Leave a comment:

Ha! That was the idea. I definitely wanted one on each side. Previously, only having one charger in the cigarette lighter sucked; especially with power-hungry iPhones.
I have a third one that I may install somewhere in the rear.Leave a comment:

I was actually taking the picture with my phone. You can't see it, but the wire comes up between the console and seat.
The placement is deceiving, I initially thought it would be in the way, but it's not at all.
Unless you're REALLY trying to contort yourself, you can't hit the plug... or even close to it. My knee can't hit it at all. I have to jam my calf into the thigh support to even get near it.Leave a comment:

So umm, are you sitting on your phone in that picture? you could bend the cable back and leave it by the cig lighter but THEN I feel like it would interfere with your leg. Just saying. Otherwise nice idea.Leave a comment:

I used wiretaps to draw power from the cigarette lighter.
The little metal nipple is connected to a spring that's soldered into the board. I removed the spring and then soldered a positive lead directly to the board.Leave a comment:
