I just graduated a few months ago and am back in the Bay Area now. I actually bought my second spoiler from him though! Great guy.

I have been a few times, but only with my E46, not with this car yet. You may have seen me rolling around the East Bay or San Francisco with it?

I actually thought about going with black accents and lowering it (along with an S52 and a whole host of other ideas...), but in the end I've decided to make it as clean as I can while having it look essentially the way it did out of the factory (with the exception of little things like the Euro moldings).

My reason is I've already built a fully coiled and track ready E36, and my E46 M will also be getting a set of coils and some other performance bits. The E30 will never perform on the same level as the others no matter how much I throw at it, so why not enjoy it for what it is already? A great, fun to drive, relaxing classic. I'll probably do an E36 rack and Z3 shifter just as maintenance upgrades, but that's about it.

Mostly highway, driving like a grandma. I can do about 28 thrashing it in the city?

The only other thing I would recommend would have been to replace the oil pressure relief valve with the updated one.

If you REALLY wanted to get adventurous, you could have replaced the rod/main bearings while the upper pan was out (would have had to remove flywheel/lower timing case). The 180 thrust bearing in the M42 is a known weak point.
229,000 on the block and chassis. I suppose I could have gone further with the internals, but everything looked in great shape when I pulled it apart, and it is a daily that I needed back on the road ASAP at the end of the day.

I actually just looked and I have them lying around in the garage, they're not in the greatest of shape but they're alright.

Thank you all for the compliments and comments! This forum has already helped me a ton with getting the car to this point and I'm glad to be a part of it.

I wish my AWII was half as clean as that. Suspension, done. Leave the M42.
