Very nice find & going to be a fun project !! I think I'd go back with the original color & make it a visually correct restoration. Perhaps keep the Hartge knockoff's till you can find a 15" wheel that looks stock. It has a lot of potential either way - restored or a German hot rod.

I really don't think the rust looks that bad considering. Are the flairs metal?

I believe they are fiberglass. They were installed really well i noticed after taking the wheels off. There is so much dirt and grime on the undercarriage. When I can finally get my hands on a cherry picker for a day and pull the motor I'll be able to give her a nice powerwash.

those are not Hartge knockoffs, those are MiM 1900's, a pretty legit uncommon wheel.

Today I got the MiM's off. anybody want them? I don't really like the look i would be down to trade or sell. Brakes are in good shape which is a relief because this is stacking up to being a lot of work. removed the sideskirts and am gonna get started on rust removal pretty soon. anybody in sac have a cherry picker I can borrow for a day?

This is said boobs. we cant post nudes in here right? Photoshoot will come when car is done. I think it would be weird to have a girl strip in front of a rusty stripped car haha.

Sorry for not updating this in awhile guys I've been really busy with the car. My dad and I have gotten a lot of work done on it and things are looking good which is a relief.

motor has been pulled and torn apart and it is in good condition! it is at the machine shop now.


Got the rear subframe off and it's a little rusty but nothing major. rear drums in good condition, dif is also good. going to break this all down, clean it up and por 15 the hell out of it.





the aluminum cleaned up pretty nice so far. I'm going to be painting a few pieces later on.


For now I'm going to get the whole frame and suspension cleaned up and painted, new bushings etc. Once that's done then I will tackle putting the motor back together with all new gaskets once it's back from the machine shop. This car is gonna be badass

I recommend the 02 as a great project car with tons of potential. I'm a BMW guy and these cars can be as simple or complex as you want. it just depends on the direction you want to go with it. For me I'm trying to make this one as simple and as pure of a driving experience as possible.
