My parents had 3 2002-2005 dodge ram van 3500 extended vans. They bought them from the local airbus company with 500xxxkm and then drove them to 900xxxkm before scrapping them. All 3 had original engine, original tranny, original oil(ran on propane), 1 brake pad change. I shit you not, that was all that my dad did. No oil change because, "propane doesnt have impurities", we just topped it up every 20k. Propane back then was $.30 a litre or 1/3 the price of gas, so we were driving essentially a 3500 series truck for less than the cost of driving a Honda Civic.
The only issues we had were cold starts less than -20 required ethyr in the intake and emissions testing always failed because the tech couldnt find the cat(not required on propane) so my dad would spend the $300 in required repairs on spark plugs, air filter etc and just get a tune up every year.
