    How far would you go......

to make the wheel of your dreams?!

So I've been running these wheels for at least 3 years now, but I don't think I ever did a write up on them. It looks like people are starting to spend a lot more money on e30's as the younger crowd is getting more financially stable and finding awesome ways of spending their hard eared money, lol!! So here's the write up on my wheels to hopefully inspire people to keep taking e30's to the next level!! = )

I bought these 16in BBS RS...

....wheels from someone a couple years ago and found out that, after paying a pretty good price, two of the inner barrels were warped and would not balance properly!! My fault was that when I bought them, I opened them, inspected them, then put them away for 8 months before I went to mount them... which is when I found out.

I couldn't really go back to the seller at that point so I was S.O.L.! ...until I just decided that I didn't give a fuck and just threw money at the problem, haha!!

Tada!! I purchased 2 brand fucking new OLD STOCK BBS RS inner barrels from Felgen-Garage.de ($795 shipped).

Next I had the old faces stripped and re-powdercoated by one of the best in the business here in San Diego, in a semi-gloss black.

I threw aside the original .5in lips, had the original 1in lips highly polished and bought brand new Schmidt aluminum 2.5in lips for the rear.

From Felgen Garage I also bought some dope 1/4in caps that came highly polished! These are 100% aluminum, no shitty plastic inner threads (like all OEM BBS caps come) to crack or break later. And when I got the faces powdercoated I also powder coated the stock height BBS caps the same semigloss black, for a murdered out look!

I had to have adapters made to run them since they are Porsche wheels, but with the offset they had I was able to make the outer lip position wherever I wanted it. I researched a ton of different websites with offset calculators and position charts to get the perfect fit, for me. Then I had them machined to my exact specification. ...I chose super aggressive, obviously! :nice:

I gave everything over to my trusty wheel shop, US Wheel, in El Cajon, CA...

    ...and BAM!! Shits dope!!

I kept the 1in lip on the front because I didn't have the suspension needed to run the 2in lips I wanted without rubbing my fender off. If I keep the car I will get GC coilovers and throw on 2in lips up front and it will be 100% my dream!!

    Final wheel specs (including 25mm adapters) are 16x7.5 et18 205/40 & 16x9.5 et5 215/40.

If I add the 2in barrel up front it will make it 16x8.5 et +5, which would stick out 4mm (.157 in. or 5/32 in.) farther that the very common 16x9 et15 setup. BUT, if you run the 16x9 et15 setup I'm pretty sure you have to run a 2 or 4mm spacer up front to clear the shock strut, so in actuality, it would be about the same ...which I think it would look dope though.

***I'm sure half the people on this board will hate these wheels/setup, but I also have an e30 M3 with 17x8/9 BBS LM's (see sig) with 245's on the rear ....plenty of meat and grip for when I wanna play hard in the corners! So I have the Best of both worlds!! = )

                        This.
Also, just curious, while you were doing all the stripping and rebuilding, why didn't you just have them filled and re-drilled?
