    Farewell M3, welcome poor man's M3? (tease-ish)

Sold my 91 M3 yesterday to another enthusiast. It was and is still bittersweet.

I picked this up today... It's also a 91, more details as I sort it all out.

Alex! I'm not sure I understand the logic behind selling your M3 in the first place but I'm sure you have your reasons. I'm surprised to see you picked up a 318iS? planning to swap it ?
Also, what are your impressions between the two cars?

I've had all sorts of responses while the M3 was for sale. I've had people literally use profanities at me stating the car was outrageously priced... I've had people tell me I'm stupid for selling such an amazing car. Reality is, it was my car, and I had to do what I had to do. It seems to be a hot topic, so I'll again put it on record. The vehicle was sold so I could use the funds to purchase a home for me and my family. For me, owning a home was/is more important than owning one of the greatest cars of all time.

The 318is is a great car. I love the M42 engine, I had one in an E30 touring while overseas. I don't plan on swapping anytime soon. I'll post more info later.

M42 love. I don't consider the 318is the poor man's M3, the 318is is a great car all on its own.

Slicktops are great. But I strongly suggest upgrading the motor. Loved your //M. Is the enthusiast on here?

Alex, I completely understand. I think it's very telling where your priorities are when you sell something like that. Good for you. I've driven many E30's but never an M42 318iS. I was just talking about the car with a local owner at the last meet about the differences. I'm going to try and drive one at the next local meet to see for myself.

I thought you were gonna swap an S14 into it at first. That would be flippin' sweet.

Nice pickup, hopefully you got it for less than $10k or whatever kids ask for them these days.

that's only the going rate for ones with hastily performed s52 swaps. ;)

Funny, but I just made the same move. Parted ways with the '89 M3 to make room for another 318is. Exponentially better car to drive around normally, IMO.
