325ix (Newest Addition to the Family)

Like many of you guys, I check craigslist in my area religiously. I saw an ad for this 15 mins away, pretty vague, no pictures, but 143k miles for $2000 and thought it was a pretty good price for an ix. So just for shits and giggles, I emailed the guy to get some pictures and more details. Why not, right? So the seller emails me back with a huge list of maintenance that he has done in the last 6 months or so by him and his friend who have both been into e30s for years. Timing belt was done, water pump, entire drive train checked and serviced, new hoses all around... you get the idea. He bought it as a full restoration project but has a kid on the way and no time to finish it. So I went to look at it and fell in love. The body has a lot of little dings but nothing serious, and the only rust spot is the corner of the pass fender, hardly even noticeable. Paint needs some help, but this is going to be my DD so whatever. It needs a new windshield (parts car ftw) the radiator support straightened out from the PO bottoming out hard enough for the grills to break off, and the front driver strut tower replaced along with both front shocks. He had new grills as well as a replacement strut tower that came with the car. Interior is as clean as I've seen in person for an original interior in a 20 year old car. Crack free dash, no tears in any seats, no scuffs on the door panels. Drove it home today with a trip permit. Pictures!

huh, that's very interesting. it's a 90 but it has the power steering cooler lines. i was under the impression that only the 88 came with them.

I didn't but I trust the seller. He said it did pass the jack test and that he went through and inspected pretty much all the awd components to make sure they were in good shape

it may have been standard on '88s, but was likely an option for later cars (although you don't often see it).

actually, I'd like to have one. :)
