FUH RAZE DAVE! KOILOVAS AND HUGE AZZ WHEELZ DAWG!

    Aren't the Alpinas +2? 14->16"?

See my post in the track section - I'm dealing with the same opposing arguments. I HAVE NO DIFFERENTIAL in my car, and need to get one - why put a 2.93 in there if I'm only going to end up replacing it after a few months? Silly, in my opinion. If I already HAD a 2.93 in there, I wouldn't be replacing it.

Same story for you - you can't rock the car as is, and it's POINTLESS to replace the components with stock. So upgrade what you can, it's not about being fuh raze, it's about getting the car up to speed so that while it may be more car than you need now, it'll be enough car for you when you get more experience.

Alpinas are getting refinished insilver and will be street wheels. Kosei K1s for the track. 15x7.

And you are spot on - IF it needs replacing anyway, get the better part - just realize that it is the driver that really needs the most improvement.

and yet you are complaining like you know, without any experience at all. . . .

just fucking listen to Mario and take his words to heart. the old farts like tiato shitting on your parade will just save you the effort and money until you are wise enough to understand what they were saying all along.

and go for GC's, whatever. just don't plan on any engine swaps. the m20 is plenty as it is. hell, JasonH made mention the m50 is just something that makes him look better than he really is

I'm not complaining at all. You FUH RAZE fuckers just don't want to pay attention when we say shit that NEEDS to be replaced should be upgraded. Why the FUCK would we put stock struts and springs on a car we're planning on autox'ing? Does a lower center of gravity and stiffer suspension components make the car easier to maneuver and safer to use on a track? Absolutely, so if you're REPLACING IT ANYWAYS, why not put something better, safer, and more effective in there?

No one is saying "oh fuck I'm gonna be a race car driver and bring my car to the track i need a m50 and open headers and fuckin 18x10 wheels with fuckin 305/40/18 slicks and a fuckin roll cage and 5 point harnesses and fuckin recaros and fuckin 6 strut bars and when i go out there my first time I'm gonna beat a viper cuz my car is FUH RAZE."

READ what Dave and I are posting before giving us your ever-so-important and valuable opinion of autox - we want to decrease the amount of times we replace parts, spend less by upgrading once, not twice or more, and get the car in better and safer shape to learn how to drive on the track.

didnt hurt Alex when he was running D stock. . .
(i.e. no one says you have to mod in order to auto-x!)

i still fail to see what the point of thinking about an engine swap is when someone doesn't even know how to give a proper point-by. LOL

hey fucker, I pointed you by and then you would up out in the corn field, IIRC.:p :p :p

Thanking about it and doing it are two different things. Right now the car would not even come close to passing tech. Even at NASA. And if the engine were FUBAR at this point, I'd get another M20 and drop it in.

By the way, you still got that Ryan G. Splitter? And can you give me some tips on how to remove my trunk tar? :giggle:

                  GOOD!

Nah, sold it. It was easier to trade for my spacers, as it was much more liquid. Although I did think about installing it.

Wait until a hot Auto-X day and just pull it out. It was an impluse move, but it was easy as fuck.

and ask Alex. We were riding your bumper through 2-3 passing zones and got no love.

Come on Robert, cut these guys some slack. You were much worse before you started tracking your car. All the mods you did, and even your subframe bushings to pass tech? I've never heard of techs checking the condition of your subframe bushings.

Hey TJ, I'm thankful for people doing this to me because I didn't know better back then. Someone should be there to knock out the idea of replacing the engine before they've driven the car once. . .

And how ignorant you are. The subframe bushings were the reason I failed tech two years ago. (that and battery tie down, but that was a non-issue) They were OK for the street, but he would not pass the car because of them for the track. so HA.

if you don't trust me, call Rick Vaughn and ask why Heeter failed tech in April '04.

I was ready to get out on the track basically how i bought the car, before I was set back by the failure at tech inspection. And then I did everything else while I was at it and the rear subframe was out.

I guess tech is different in FL.

                            auto-x tech. . . or a driving event tech?

and no, they wouldn't have been checked at a NASA HPDE tech inspection most likely. (they're a joke anyway) but BMWCCA is pretty careful about what gets put out on the track. The questionable subframe bushings might supposedly make the car hard to handle at limit, and make it easy to spin. hence, he didn't want me out there.

yes, you can fail a tech for subframe bushings if it's a good one.
i would know. it was the real sole reason i wasn't out in '04. and the sole reason i did most or any mods in the past year really.

How could he visually tell they were bad anyways, with the plate the covers the bottoms?

I am talking about DE techs, never run with BMWCCA though and their autox's blow.

Rick Vaughn is my boss. I work at his shop. Want me to ask tomorrow? :) and the only autox I have driven MY car in, they just shook each wheel, made sure my helmet was SA95+, and made sure some of the caps in the engine bay were tight.
