Fuck, that's one of the worst wrecks I've seen. I am glad you made it! Hang in there and heal up fast.

My goodness, that's a tough one to look at. I remember when you sought out this car as it had low mileage and was a cream puff. Sad to see. If you want another iX, there is one in DC that's an 89 2 door 5spd and cheap at 1850.

          Don't rush the recovery.

I know I'm very lucky. I still don't know how I made it out of that wreck. The other car was a Ford F-150. The guy never attempted to brake as there were no skid marks and the witnesses said he just kept going. The street I was turning onto was a 2 lane road (two on either side). The speed limit on the road is 35mph and its basically on Kent's campus. It being a Friday night around a college campus, there was no reason for someone driving on that road going 15mph over the speed limit. Luckily it was me in a car and not someone on foot crossing with the right away.

The guy turned himself in on Saturday for a warrant he had for not appearing in court for a Wreckless Opperation charge.

I'm going to get myself a much newer BMW, be it an e36 or e46. Something much newer. I deserve it. The guy is also going to be charged with Assult with a Vehicle due to a city prosecutor witnessing the entire accident.

I'm really pissed about loosing the car. I just had damn near $8,000 put into the car having the engine rebuilt and a new transfercase put in it. Had it been another e30 with rust or in any less condition, I don't think I would live to tell the story.

Ohh, and by the way... I won the lottery. I'm still here. But I'm going to buy a ticket today for sure.

I have no idea why I'm still here but I'm glad to be here for sure.

I don't have a cut, scrape, or bruise on my body from the accident (other than the bruising on my ribs). Everyone who saw the car and was around the accident was surprised I didn't have a broken leg or arm from the impact. I too, am surprised.

My dad whose been a police officer for over 26 years went and looked at the car on Saturday while I was in the accident. He told me he cried for 10 minutes. He said every accident he's been to thats been that bad, the driver has been much worse off than I have. Five broken ribs hurts like hell, but I'm lucky to be able to walk.

I really don't know what I am going to do car wise. I don't know how much I am going to be able to get out of a settlement from this accident, but I want a much newer BMW. And thats not because I don't love the e30's, its because I would like something a little bit safer. This is the second accident I've been in an e30 for that wasn't my fault and should have been much worse. I seem to be a magnet for terrible wreckless drivers.

What are your guys thoughts on a new car? e36, e46? And I'm not sure I'm interested in an M3.

                    I'm amazed I'm alive.

Well before you worry about those things get your life back on track, school and all.

My parent's E46 330Ci is a nice car for daily driving. Something to consider. You could also go away from BMW. Volvo, AUDI, and VW are making some nice cars today.
                      Im now E30less.

I can't think of any big words to describe how shocked I was to know that you made it out of that crash in such good condition. I drink to you, the luckiest man I know right now.

Go with a Volvo. Use a little to mod your E30 cabrio, and call it a long, well deserved, lucky, happy day.

EDIT: His Ford kept going?! Thats a scary thought. Get him for all you can.

So I'm pretty much fucked. My medical bills total over $35,000 for being in the hospital for 5 days. And today I learned the other driver has the states minimum coverage. $12,500 for bodily injury and $7,500 for property damage. So now I have to take it to my insurance company and make a claim. I would have been better off if the accident had been my fault. Talk about bullshit.
