I thought about doing rallycross and I may end up doing both. we'll see. ill probably stick with auto x since thats what my friend does and ill have someone to split hotel costs with and chill with at events
I can tell you, though, that rallycross is 100x more fun than autocross. We currently have 3 local e30s (with 7 drivers) rallycrossing locally right now. The guys who run e30s also do autocross, track days, Lemons, and drift and rallycross seems to be the favorite for all of them. It's also the one where driving is way more important than how fast your car is. My M10 318i is 2nd in points this season in the RWD class, even with only 100hp!
Also for comparison, at a typical SCCA autocross you'll get 3 or 4 runs for a total of about 3 minutes of seat time. A typical rallycross you get 10-15 runs for a total time of about 20 minutes of seat time......so alot more time in the car having fun!
What do you mean about hotel costs? There are like 6 local autocross clubs, so there's no reason you would need to stay in a hotel. All are within an hour drive of fairfax.
Anyhow, I live about 10 minutes from Mason just off the parkway in Burke, so if you ever want to stop by and check out a rallycross setup e30, or talk about autocross (i've been doing it for 15+ years), you're more than welcome. I'll be around the house most of the day tomorrow and friday working on the car and yard if you're at class feel free to hit me up.Stage rally/rallycross e30 build/competition journal

I used to run a DSP/EP Maxima. My WRX is SM-classed right now but I haven't run it this year. Kind of got tired of autocross after a few hundred events....especially since the WRX really can't hang with the STis and Evos in that class.Stage rally/rallycross e30 build/competition journal

great now i gotta do more research lol i'd probably do better in rallycross since most of driving experience is in my jeep, offroad (id dont go "mudding", i actually drive). but i will definitely look more into it.
and sometimes that trey goes to are a few hours away and after a day of racing, getting a hotel and drinking a bit is always fun. kinda make a whole weekend out of the event.
and im not in class now. wont be going back till fall. im currently in warrenton, so im too far away by any means. I will definitely come up there soon! i need to wash both cars and clean the interior (just slept in my wagon last night after a party lmao)

skip towards the end of my rallycross build thread.....lots of pics and videos. Also dirtyimpreza.com is the BEST rallycross forum out there. It's not just for Subies.
here's vid from the last event. We're on "summer break" right now and the next event is in early September, I think.

Appearance Build Threads - MrM3's Wagovan Mega Build - I picked up this car about a year ago after a friend that works at a Honda dealership told me about it. The people that owned it had bought a new Fit and wanted to get rid of it. I went and checked it and was pretty happy with it and it was only $450 so I couldn't...
