I love blue interiors!! I'm interested to see how this turns out... A note on my personal opinion, an 87is should keep the metal bumpers. It's kinda one of those iconic e30's. Your car though so don't mind me :)

Well I finished the injector swap and go to start it up again only to hear a loud metal on metal pinging when i started it back up. took off the valve cover and i have a broken rocker arm!


Looks like i can add a few things to my shopping list:
-IE 272 newbillet camshaft
-IE heavy duty rocker arms

and while im making an order with them i'll add on:
-IE scraper tray
-IE oil pan baffle
-maybe the NUKE adjustable cam gear

ALSO entertaining the idea of an engine swap.. hmmmmm i'll sleep on it for a few nights

I had a rocker arm break on me last year on my IX.
Good opportunity to rebuild the head i guess!

Got my driver side shock (thanks SLEEPYDUB!) so I test fit the rear bumper today



And here's the parts I have waiting to be put in. Haven't bought rocker arms or anything yet.

In my completely biased opinion there is no better E30 than the '87 iS. Looking forward to seeing progress on this one.

+1 Although I'm pretty biased too. The car that got me into e30s was my dads 87 325is. An 87 is is also my dream e30. A 1987 325is in Alpine White, Cardinal Red interior, with euro bumpers and a M Tech 1 kit. Maybe paired with a 3.91 rear diff and a Alpina C2 2.7 engine behind it. All ridding on M3 suspension with Style 5's. But I really haven't thought about it to much :)

OP really looking forward to the build. I've always loved the build that require cutting and welding.

being on kijiji (canadian equivalent of craigslist) non-stop finally paid off.

This guy posted it for an absolute steal, 1800. Hopefully that doesnt mean there is an excessive amount of hidden work needed. knock on wood. I messaged the guy when the ad was only up for half an hour. There was a bunch of other people interested and the car was parked outside of his shop, I went to check it out and when I got there there was other people checking it out. (they couldn't figure out how to close trunk or open hood lmao). After looking underneath the car and stuff I told them this car was as good as mine. Sent the guy a deposit from my phone on the way home.

I think I have decided to sell my daily driver, 2004 audi a6 2.7t and dump the money into getting this new e30 onto the road. Stay tuned!
