So my stroker build has had another turn in direction. At first I was going to throw in the m50nv just as it was, and then with some advice that the swap will be a let down, I had planned out a 2.8 stroker. However when I was ready to pull the trigger on the stroker, I had received an offer I couldn't refuse.
I now have m54b30 rotating assembly. :D

also picked up an e36 rack

A small update on the e30, rotating assembly is going in to be balanced. So while that's being done, the e30 will be going in to the panel beaters tomorrow for rust repairs. And because i got bored i decided to go ahead and install my shifter setup!

Im doing one of two ways, ill either be machining up a ali spacer and use the e36 bottom half of the steering joint, or ill get the steering UJs from an e34 and machine up a splined shaft to fit.

Sooo, went to see the panel shop. Good news and bad news. Good news is that the rust wasn't very bad, so that's a plus! But on the other hand, there were dents that were covered previously. And the dents were pretty bad, also in weird places.

Here's some pictures. Keep in mind, filler still needs more sanding.

What is with mounting the shift carrier in the top? How do you go about it? Just bolt it on? Anything else needed to do that, like the selector rod you made, is it needed? Looks like it gets rid of those awful bushings. Sweet looking car.

It simplifies the whole shifter assembly, also with the Rogue engineering shifter allows me to reduce or increase throw. Mounting it this way made it easy for me to reach the cir-clip from under the car without removing anything. If you're going to go through the hassle of building something like this, why not put a dssr in?Yes, it does get rid of most bushings in the shifter assembly. Cheers!
