    R.I.Peices, ode to the M42

Well, it happened today, the M42 let loose. Timing chain went and all the nifty little M42 peices followed. So for now the 318is is off the street. For a while, but,,,,,,, lurking in the shadows is new blood. A transplant is foreseen, breathing fire and bringing with it a new found sense of youth, yes folks, the M50 swap is about to start, letters to home and an explaination to my wife will be found somewhere on a stretch of Tennessee twisties when its completed, no forwarding adress and no phone number, all you'll see of me is a big smile and tail lights.....

This proves the point of the M42 being a work of art, not. It wasn't even impressive, just quit. I would have liked to seen some P.S.E at least! Oh well, scratch me from the purist column, I'm going for speed, I'm going the distance,,,, la, la , laaaaaaaa.

dammit, not another one. You're all scaring me. How many miles did it have? I am at 145,000 and on the original chain, I'm pretty sure. I'll change it if I have to, but I've heard it's pretty involved.

        Good luck with the m50.

I had 158000 on the clock and a warning failed valve spring. Like I said, I knew it was going to happen........

That's probably the gayest summary of a dead car that I have read on r3v so far. Do you watch Star Trek?

Good luck with the motor swap.

It was meant to bait the M42 lovers from behind their respective rocks, or out from their respective closests as your case may be. @ss

Just went, no warnings, bells or whistles. It left me plenty of time to work up the financial thought process of the M50 swap though.

I don't understand what you guys are afraid about. M20 guys have to replace the belt at 60k, and that's just as detailed as changing the chain on the M42.

The system begins to show wear around 100k, and if you're that worried...

The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.
