Yes, stone age suspension techology and an underpowered motor wins everytime.

That's why we have forums on five lug swaps and S5x transplants.

I like my e30 'cause its cheap and fairly reliable. And while its a fun car, and will be more fun after I get the upgrades finished, the fact remains it is essentially disposable. If I crack it up at a DE or on the road - no biggie, get another. Can;t say that with my IS or if I had an e36 m3. And both stock have so much more ability than any e30.

But this is an E30 board. So what are you trying to prove?
I know I'm no liar. I've driven an E36 M3, several times. I was impressed with the speed and power, and that was it. The car is too big, and doesn't feel connected to the road at all. I felt like I was in a big SUV, just lower to the ground. Call me what you like, I would take the E30.

Exactly what is stone aged about the E30s suspension? On paper, sure the e36 has advantage over the e30, but on the road, they are just different. I am telling you now, and you don't have to believe it, given a choice of that e36 m3 and my car with the money diff to spend on mine so that equal amounts of money invested in both, I would take mine all day long. I just love the e30. Is that so wrong? Why do you guys have to rip on the e30 all the time? There are lots of cars that are "better" cars on paper and even on the road, but they all lack the intangible quality that makes the e30 so damn appealing. Why is this debated over and over and over again every few weeks or months or whatever. If you think the e30 is such shit, then why the fuck do you own one and hang out here so much. Damn Dave, you are starting to sound more and more like heeter all the time.

I'll take the e30 as it is throwable and fun, and rare and says something about the driver that isnt there in the e36.

E30's aren't rare, they imported literally millions of them. I'd definately say NICE E30's are rare, but overall, nah.

Re-read my thread Bobby. And then perhaps read it again.

I'm not ripping on the e30. Just speaking some truths.

I like my car. I also know its place on the food chain.

I think many of you are comparing stock E36's to modded E30's as well. Stock E30's don't handle like a dream either, and I think with the right mods an E36 can get a lot of the feel that E30's have. Not all of it, but a lot.

TJ, your sig is a huge percentage of the allure of the E30 to me. Yes, the e36 stock vs. a stock e30, I would have to go with the e36m3, without doubt. BUT, and that's a huge BUT, you nailed it when you said a modified E30. I love the modding and wrenching and creating something that is a better version of what it was originally without losing the feel of the original. Again, I like the classic lines of the e30 vs. the e36, it is just more appealing to me. And yes, a nice clean e30 is very rare nowadays so it makes them a little more special in that regard as well.

I can respect why you'd want an E30 for the reasons you do. I just feel like the people that hate E36 M3's either haven't given them a fair chance, or haven't driven a modded one. But there are tons and tons of clean ones out there and its harder to gain respect and be unique with them.

It's also possible to mod E36's just as much if not more than E30's, and they aren't much harder to work on either (in my opinion). So that aspect is still available.

                                Compairing here a 325is vs. M3. It should be a E30 325i vs. 328is or E30 M3 vs E36 M3. Then who wins;)
