That is a very good point. I have been doing research on my motor (94 F-150) and I found that it actually flows better (intake to heads) then the 5.0 rollers out of the mustangs.
One of the only reasons I was thinking heads was to drop a little weight in the front. I know the weight distribution is different from the m20 as you are placing 2 more cylinders behind the front axle. But the stock ratio of 53f/47r is still going to change.
I did have the thought of moving the whole motor back some more. I'm a fabricator by trade (before I became an office jockey) so I have all the cool toys for steel fabrication in the garage. modify the firewall a but the get the distribution of weight further back would help the iron block/heads. PLUS, E7 heads with a little home porting can take a pounding from boost. Look at turboforums.com in the stock block chronicles, there are guys pushing 16-20lbs. of boost through them!

One thing to remember is you will not need (or be able to use) the massive low end torque the ttv8 will give you from my experience a 60mm turbo will give you great response and plenty of top end (keep the 302 below 6000 rpm) just use a good electronic boost controller on a decent single 60mm turbo even the on3 turbos guys seem to like em when on a budget. you will/can make enough power with a stock 302 with a turbo to crack it like an egg, reality is there is no need for heads, cam, intake, nothing...just hardware, good gaskets, proper fueling and a solid tune no different then the bmw engines except these things can't survive as long in that 600whp range but then again 500hp is cheap with a turbo 302......Regardless of what you do, that's going to be insane when its all back together. I'm building mine to accommodate smaller turbo(s)......yes that's plural. But the more I talk to people I don't know, for what I want to use it for that might even be to much! That thing sounds so mean when it spools hahaha
I personally want to mimic the bmw's power delivery with my turbo 302. strong n/a lowend up to 2400-2800 (check, 302 makes nice low end hp/tq, especially my exlorer engine/cam) and then the turbo can be brought on from there, then its a matter of how much you can slap to it till 6k.Last edited by Mako18; 02-01-2013, 11:51 AM.Leave a comment:

Its a reverse valve body c4 with a hughes race rebuild in it. Ive got the hurst billet pistol grip in it to manually change gears. Park is all the way forward, pull back one time to go in reverse, again for neutral, then back to engage first. Once in first the shifter locks itself as a safety so without pulling the handle you cant go back into neutral or reverse. But literally its just pulling back each time to change gears.Leave a comment:

The valve body is re-valved so you can use a "slap" or ratchet shifter to manual shift through the gears. Very common in drag racing. I had a chevy 383 stroker with a th-350 transmission and modified valve body so I could do the same thing. About as close to a manual as you can get without a clutch.
