Project Dirty e30: Front mounted the intercooler

Finally put the intercooler where it should have went in the first place. Exuse the different colored couplers. The place I got the blue ones from were out of stock so I found these for about a quater of the price. We'll see if they hold up.

And I know you love my gangster down pipe. Its only temporary. I'm waiting for a laser cut flange to show up (3 friggin weeks).

PVC like sprinkler tubing? Will that hold up to the pressures that exist there?

Sorry, a couple of those look like PVC to me...

It's been done. Dont expect to run boost over 7-10psi though.

Check over at HMT.com. Those civic boys use it like its the good stuff. Boosting 15 psi and watching them explode, lol.

looks alright. but i think the piping is covering up too much of the radiator to provide enough cooling for the motor.

How effective is an IC that is that small? Just curious.

Can't wait to see this car in person. I've been itching to autocross again, we'll all have to hit one up together.

Its looks smaller than it actually is. It about a 2/3 the size of a huge cooler.
My turbo is so small that a huge IC would kill the pressure from end to end.

I don't think the radiator cooling will suffer too much. The big Hp guys with the insane coolers dont seem to have a issue.

I will eventually upgrade to a better cooler if I go bigger turbo and Msquirt but for now I think it will work.

Took her ot for a run last night, boosted at 8 psi and ran great. I do feel a little miss every once in a while when accelerating, might be vaccum of the fuel pump.

If I can get the front end aligned and redo my oil outlet by the next AutoX I'll be there!
