little pic i took at the gas station
decided to tweak a couple more things. i like amber on some cars but thought this would look better with all the amber changed to red.
front side turn sigs
before:
after:
tails:
mask them off
boom
little crack in that one. oh well.
i like it
so idk if someone of you might freak out about this next part or what lol but here it goes. the paint was always kinda eh on this car. i mean it was sitting in a garage or barn or something forever. had this film of like crap on it that washing it wouldnt even get off. the trunk also had some black spray paint overspray on it, and the rust on the right side on water rust spots running down the doors.
so i went ahead and wet sanded the wholeeee thing with scotch brite. worked like a charm. all that crud came off..all that overspray came off, and water rust stains came off.
then i was talking with a buddy and he said on all the older cars <70s they used a oil based paint instead of a waster based like today. he told me that his buddy soaked a rag in motor oil and wiped it all over the car. then took a dry microfiber and wiped off the excess so it was not oily. i thought F it. i paid 1ooo bucks for the car. lets see what happens.
results: note the shiny part is NOT oily like you would think because i wiped off all the oil. it created a good shine
and final product
its not bad. pics dont really do it justice, but in person looks pretty good.
im getting close to being done with this car. i have a new radio coming in this week. i still need the hood emblem, and my sway bar end links were gone. so i ordered some of those.
other than that this thing is in tip top shape. runs like a champ. i went through the whole motor, all the brakes have been done, lowered the suspension. shocks were real good. this car has like nooo rust underneith it.
i might end up just selling it if anyone is interested. make room for some more projects. :) never know whats next....Race German
