Pictures from the TX Trifecta at COTA

Had an unbelievable weekend running both a DE and autocross at Circuit of the Americas this past weekend. Since my M3 is still down I took my s50 325is. Here's a few pictures. The rest are here.

    Driving in on Friday night

    Ready to unload

In the garage for the night with Chris' m-coupe

We sat here and ate breakfast Saturday morning

    A friend's '02

Some of Terry Sayther's cars. I was also lucky enough to have him as my instructor.

    Just sitting in the paddock

    I was missing my M3

Winning cars from the race on Saturday

Some of the M5 and M6 Grand Coupes they were giving rides in.

Sunday morning autocross in the rain.

Chris' '02 in one of the last sessions

    Loaded up to head home

    I earned it!

Wow looks like a killer weekend. I grew up in TX and would love to go back for a visit to check that out. Looks like a top notch race track. Lots of nice cars in your post also.

Considered by many to be in the top 3 in the world.

Opened for the Formula1 race last November.

The track was amazing. 3.4 miles, 20 turns and VERY technical. Since January they have had 27 cars into the wall from turn 4 alone. That doesn't include race cars, that's only at DE's and student events. Always in the back of your mind as you're going through the S's.

I have in-car videos I'll post up later. My best lap getting the times from the gopro was 2:59. To put that in perspective the track record is 1:37. He would have damn near lapped me on my first lap.

They did cancel all DE's and then decided to honor their agreements with a few groups, BMWCCA being one of them.

This was the first time for this event, and depending on what COTA decides we may not get allowed back on the track again.

The Houston chapter does an autocross once a month, the next one is June 23rd. Shoot me a PM if you want more info, you should come out, it's a lot of fun.

Crazy, which one is turn 4? That's the elevation turn is it? I'm not 100% familair with the course, aside from it being amazing what are the crituque's you may have of the circuit?

What did the 1:37 an F1 car?

Turn 4 is in the S's

Vettel holds the track record in his F1 car.

Great article on OppLock by a girl driving a Lancer that was sharing our garage.

Here's her video showing me passing her on the back straight.
