Umm, your car is beautiful. I for one am not a purist of the s14, it is a very high strung motor that does not produce much power (in stock form) and costs a shit load of money to fix when something breaks, wich happens too often. I think unless you were going to make your e30m3 a concours car the s14 is pretty pointless. I would much rather have a s50 in there, That means i could daily drive it without having to sell bodily fluids and/or organs!!! Plus, low end torque in the s14 sucks, and yes, i understand its intent on being built but it isnt practical for being road driven.

Wow, I'm not a purist either but I can give respect to the S14 where its due. How many 4 bangers in the 80's made almost 200hp from the factory, NA?

BTW Your car looks incredible, great find & congrats.
Im in the same position as you, and know how it feels to earn your way and sometimes be discredited by others. Either way you know how you got there and just look at what you have to show for it.....nuff said.

Well TJ, you got me there. Although some late 80's honda engines have a higher specific output. I am not shunning the s14, It was a technological marvel for it's time, I am just saying i wouldn't want to have one in a car that i enjoy to drive on a daily basis.

example of powerful four cylinder: honda b16a1, 1600cc, 160hp. originally designed in the 80's, yet it does not have the extensive race engineering that the s14 does. Such as, individual throttle bodys, or a dual timing chain. I guess what i am trying to say is, unless used and modified in full race trim, the s14 is a pretty pointless engine.

But it still sounds sweet in GRUPPEa/DTM trim...

$30k might buy you a group A motor from europe.

You're better off buying a 2.3l US spec motor and building it up. You can do a decent 2.5l for ~$20k with CF intake, Alpha N engine management, 48mm tb's, cams, headwork, etc.

I am not saying i do not believe that the s14 isnt a great engine, i just cant afford it, i would love an s14, fully built for a track car, and my current engine put in a e30, as a fast ass daily driver, and i need to get a car that doesnt have 4.11 gears, cause this is my only car, and i will only drive it in perfect conditions outside, and when i have money for gas, jeez i need a daily so bad

Yeah i have, I don't beleive in internet hearsay. To tell you the truth, I would rather have a regular e30, such as a 325is, than an e30 m3. They don't appeal to me aside from looks, and even still, i think a regular e30 can look better. *flamesuit ON* And i think the m20 sounds better.
