No one makes the part I needed, much less could they have them in my hands in 12 hours.

It takes money to bring a CAD model of a part to a machine shop and have them stop what they are doing and bang them out for you.

As for spinning the tires, have you looked into rebuilding your diff for more lockup? On dry pavement I can only chirp the rear tires on the 1-2 shift with the Torsen diff.

Meanwhile, I reached into the neatly organized parts bins at the wheel shop and pulled out 3mm 4x100 spacers.

And Chris, if you think that's bad, I have 185/65's out there on 6" wheels. It's pitiful.

So I had a good chance to put the car through its paces this evening. My gawd.

Its a veritable go kart. Understeer is completely gone, and car handles very neutral. Oversteer is actually quite difficult to induce (you have to make a genuine effort) when it does let go it is very easy to hold and control.

The difference between 225F/245R and 245F/255R on my car is night and day. Simply put its amazing.

Braking performance is also greatly improved. I find I can brake much harder while turning sharp then I ever could before. With the 225's up front braking hard with excessive turnin the front end would plow into gross understeer. Now it just GOES.

I have not smiled like I did tonight in a long.. long time.

Also worth noting I have noticed NO loss of turning radius/lock to lock with the 8.5's up front vs the 7.5's. It seems well matched and still quite usable in parking situations.

Surely, aquaplaning will be a biatch with 255s?

Yes well as a general rule the wider the tire the worse it will perform in standing water and snow.

This car won't ever see snow, and I never found the 225/245's to be an issue in the rain before. Just driving responsibly and not getting on throttle through large amounts of water and I have no issues.
