Those numbers are pretty good for the mods you have done (basically maintinence).... Today we dyno'd my buddies m3.... we were pretty damn impressed with its 221.5 at the wheels, with a really good A/F ratio.

Wow. What mods on it? Christian's basically stock (I can't remember if he has a chip or not)E30 M3 dyno'd at 155rwhp, which is only 8hp more than mine did, and my engine wasn't cool. So what has he done to achieve those numbers?

Since he bought it from his old boss-
supersprint stainless dual 50mm exhaust no cats/resonator
        TMS 8mm wires
        Bosch supers OEM
        17x8.5 work vs-xx 3 piece wheels
        Removed A/C

Thats it..... it came with a drop in K&N

I hate to say it, but there is no way he is putting down 212HP at the wheels with a basically stock 2.3l S14 and a different exhaust setup. If that figure was corrected to represent crank horsepower, than MAYBE-but even that is a good bit of a stretch.

I am not trying to start anything, but I am telling you-it's just not possible to get those numbers from a stock S14. A 2.3L with proper headwork, cams, and an Alpha-N setup might come close to those numbers. A properly built 2.5L would be much more believable in reaching that kind of power. You sure it hasn't been rebuilt to a 2.5L?

You can make a Dyno say whatever numbers you want. That S14 isnt putting out over 200hp with just exhaust. What Bobby said basically.

we dont know the history of the engine, however before his car a rolerskate with an s52 in it put down 246 at the wheels, and a b5 s4 put down 248... with whether corection the HP was 212.... Eric, I find it hard to believe it is stock as well.

Right now, stock all the way. That may change in the future.

I was curious mostly because of your rwhp numbers and the weight diff. An m3 should be lighter (motor weighs less) and there is a little more power. I don't know much about dyno figures on e30 325's but I do know a lot about the S14.

My car has alpha/n, 276/264 cams, 8lb flywheel, VSR exhaust, borla muffler and that's about it. I've really only installed cams, flywheel was a no brainer when I did the clutch. The alpha/n in not really a big deal in terms of install, only takes a few hours. I made 192rwhp before alpha/n and 206rwhp after. I also did 151tq vs 164tq after the alpha/n. this was all on the same dyno, but different days. I also tuned the AFR on the dyno, hired the dyno operators to do it for me. They mainly work with turbo mitsu's, so this program was a breeze for them. I've run with e30 325's before and it was more or less no contest unless they had major mods. I don't discount what you are saying at all, just curious about it.

I ran with a few e30 325's when my car was stock and it was much closer, but I still pulled in the end. Not really much, though, until we got to the highway.

None of that matters, point is that I was curious and you've helped me understand. RCWells - just incase I haven't mentioned it yet, your car looks awesome. It's unbelievably clean and makes brilliantrot looks badass! My 318is is brilliantrot and I hope it ends up looking as good as your car when I'm done.

For the record, I'm with Eric, I don't think that rwhp number posted above for the 2.3l M3 is very realistic unless a lot of work has been done to the motor. I'm a believer in the 2.3 S14, I want to build mine up as a 2.3 and I think if done properly 220rwhp is not out of the question. Once i get my CF DTM airbox I should pick up some more hp, then come the larger TB's and the cylce never ends. Oh well....

you got ~40rwhp from cams and exhaust???

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

We contacted the previous owner of the m3 and found that it has, cams 284/276 TMS chip, motorsport valve springs, evolution flywheel, and sport clutch.... it may have more done to it, he isn't quite sure.

RCWells did you do a stock dyno run or even a before run? Dyno runs by them self are meaningless.
