I remember the day there was paint stripper shavings all over the shop floor lol.

When sitting at meets, guess who's car has the crowd around it? Not the 17 e30's in a row with euro trim, iS lips and m50 swaps, everyone is checking this thing out ;)
I know that, i was explaining what he was alluding to. you don't need to attack others for not liking the car. i even said the same phrase as you,"he likes it and that's what matters". no one on here was disrespectful about not liking the car, yet you seemed to feel the need to overly defend it.

Not meant as an attack, apologies if you felt that way.

there are more "rusty" VW's than any other make. and i mean as a "finished" product not "in the works" projects. also you have a German car and VW's are German so the connection is pretty easy. as others have mentioned rat rods are also "rusty", that is not entirely true. a large amount of them have patina, which is not rust, just faded paint along with some surface rust. so the car in question resembles a VW for a few reasons more than a rat rod.

                just my view, nothing more.

#rustallthecars !! Those who talk shit about this car possibly have a lot more rust and rot on their e30s. Good stuff man. Rat rod's been around forever and it's never about copying someone. If that's the case. Why is everyone into BBS RSs? This thing is more rare than you guys having black, red, white, silver and etc E30s! Look at it that way. How many E30s out there that came rusted straight out the factory ? hahah

Hey man, were you at Sebring for the Chumpcar race? I might have saw your car there, but I'm not sure if it was a dark brown or rust because it was night time and I wasn't trying to be seen creeping around some dude's car after the race haha.

Serious question - are you able to control the rate of degradation of the metal? Did you get it to a certain "rusty" point and then seal it?

Nice specs, nice parts but why send a shell to the scrap yard? Rust is car cancer and you purposely rusted it. Of all the cars to destroy, you did it to god's chariot.

I can't lie, I love it. The only thing I don't like is the Volvo lip, I'd like to see it "properly" mounted, by that I mean flipped over. And I LOVE the door handles. Overall, I think it's a great example of the style. Do what makes you happy.

Yes, I did. I let the car rust naturally for a while to get it "thick" and even looking(keep in mind this is surface rust, not rot). Then I sprayed some chemicals on it to get a few runs and different shades of rust. Then I wiped it down with linseed oil and a rag. I oil it every few months to keep the color rich and dark.

I really want to try mounting the Volvo lip right side up. I may pick one up at the yard tomorrow to do so. I've worn away quite a bit of material on the one on the car now. I need a fresh lip for it to look proper. Door handles can be bought from Condor Speed Shop! Thank you, I'm glad to hear people other than me enjoy it.
