    Docdrey's new build thread

Whats up R3V! I started a build thread a while ago on my old e30. That project ended up coming to a halt and I ended up selling everything. I ended up regretted the sell and told myself I'd someday get another one. I always loved the sedans so if I was going to do it again, sedan would be the way to go.

    Old build thread here.

I ended up buying a M-Coupe to replace the e30 so it was a easy transition. The M-coupe is beyond words. There has never been a car that has put a smile on my face like the M-coupe.

A few months ago, I bought this at donation auction and am pretty happy with it overall.

The car ran but needed a bunch of work. I didn't mind the m42 for the time being due to my 50 mile commute. One day coming home from work, I hit a brick on the road... not kidding... and cracked my oil pan. I took my oil pan off and found this at the bottom.

My chain was falling apart which commenced a relatively large overhaul. I replaced the chain and pretty much everything that touches it.

Igor at CA-Tuned hooked me up with some coil-overs and along with 16x8 style 5's I picked up a while ago, it gave me the look I was hoping to get. I have to say, the coil-overs are awesome. I don't think I will ever go to a shock and spring combo again... Very happy with the outcome. Also got a good alarm and some minty seats :)

About a week ago, I found a wrecked e30 that had already been swapped with a 24v. I was pissed because I wanted to buy the parts-car but had already spent a ton of cash on the m42 overhaul. So I ended up doing what any other person in my position would do... bought the parts-car anyway...

That's really the only picture I have of the motor. I haven't had a chance to take a really good gander, but it looks like it's a s52... Not really sure how to find out other than running the vin on the back of the block... as of right now, I'm just waiting on a few days off so I can begin the swap. I love this car but hate that its slow as sap... can't wait to make it decently fast.

    That's it for now folks!

Its amazing what a set of wheels and suspension will do to a car, looks sick! Congrats and in for progress!

update time... A couple weeks ago I started the swap and to my disappointment, the motor is not a s52, the vin number ended up coming back to an 95 525i. The previous owner switched everything up to make it look like a obd2. I'm a bit bummed out but I did the swap anyway because I still wanted to replace the m42. Everything went smooth and quite frankly, a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Car runs good but it makes an angry throw out bearing noise. In the market for a clutch kit and I'm back in the market for a s50 or a s52.
