Got some work done today. The previous owner gave me a "box" of parts (see page 1) and I decided to install some more of those parts today. I did the Throttle body gasket, and the Coolant gasket (on the throttle body). Wow that Coolant gasket was in rough shape! I also cleaned out the ICV while I was "in there", and of course the throttle body. Now, you may be asking "why didnt you disconnected the lines from the break booster at the throttle body" and I have a pretty good answer to that. It still has an incredibly tight fit! Every M20 I've worked on has had a very loose fit, loose enough for a potential vacuum leak, while this cars felt like it had never been pulled apart. Becuase of that, I decided to leave them in there.

Pic of both cars just because,

You can actually see the new gasket,

And everything's still staying clean :D

I found a very interesting document today, it was a picture in a Mtech Ad. on eBay. I'm sure this is a Genuine BMW paper. No one really knew the production numbers of these white Mtech's, well the infos are the bottom under "volume", at least that's what I think "volume" stands for. Lots of claims saying BMW didn't give productions numbers out, looks like they did in fact.

Very cool. Very surprised to see the same production numbers between the white/black. Where are all the black ones then? lol.

Agreed! I was always under the impression the Black Mtechs where a lot less common. Maybe they all went to Canada? Also, to bad this paper doesn't show the numbers for transmission types.

Thanks! I got it in a PDF file (a direct photocopy of it) if anyone with a Mtech wants to add it to the records.

Am I reading this right? Only 350 Alpine mtech2's were produced? I have the opportunity to buy one in the coming week that needs some work and if those numbers are correct I'm buying it for sure.

235 cars made from 04/91 to the end of 91', 350 cars made in 92' so the total number would be 585 cars nationwide. My car personally is a 07/91 production date.

Interesting...I'm going to be picking up a 91 next week. The one I'm getting looks pretty similar to yours when you first got it, torn up interior and everything.

Post some pics up when you get it! Also, you should decode the VIN to double check that the kit is factory with the car. Make sure the power top works! They always break, it was working when I first got the car..
