Just keep the motor in there until it goes out. Enjoy to mileage of the eta. When the motor goes, rebuild the bottom end with SETA parts and an I head, or you could refresh your bottom end and try to find a 320i/323i head. Fix rotten bushings.
to find out if the car has an LSD, get underneath it and on the right side of the diff cover should be a metal tag. its probably rusty as shit, so use some steel wool and some degreaser or something of the sort. You will know your car has an LSD if the number on the tag has an "S" before it.
Like on my car, it reads "S3.64"
The diff is open if the tag starts with a P... i think it's a P. i've never had an open diff and am going by memory here, someone correct me if I am wrong.

cool, ill have to check it out.
I just drove the car around last night and its a very fun car, only down side is the no tilt wheel but i can deal with it.
so does anyone know where i can get an 'i' engine for a decent price, one with lower kms.
Great looking car, with not too much money it could be amazing. You could find an M20B25 for around $400-700. There are a few vendors that have salvaged cars, but finding one locally may be the best bet so you don't have to deal with shipping.
is the M20B25 out of the 'i'?
hmmmm,
i know this sounds crazy and i know that you purists out there would murder me if i actually did this but my friend brought up an interesting point, he told me about swapping a Turbo II motor from an RX-7 into the bimmer. It sounds crazy but the full swap is around 1500 CAN. I know custom mounts and drive shaft would have to be made but ive searched and have found only one rotary e30 out there. what do you all think?

I guarantee you wont be able to get that swap done for 1500 CAN.
Good luck with that one. Ive been waiting for my etas engine to go poop on me for years. It just keeps going, no hesitation, no oil burning, smooth as ever power delivery. I just want it to pop so I can do exactly what you mentioned. 2.8L "i" engine comes as SOON as it gives. Thing is....its not giving. hehe
