Thanks UlrichFennec :) I need to hit the intake with something, got any ideas?

UPDATE: car won't start, coil tested at 7K, replaced, same no start. Rotor and rotor cap look bad, especially the rotor. I couldn't even get a resistance reading there. just ordered both. Fingers crossed it's those and nothing else! A few days back I bled the coolant system of air so the small overheat issue is hopefully solved as well. Once everything is in place I am going to hook up the H4 leads, then take her for a glorious test drive!!!

I'd say you should do the exact same thing with the intake, but leave the BMW roundel white or silver. Make it match!

Could go the cliche route and make it the German flag colors.

Long story short, there was some gas in the driver side of the tank, none in the fuel pump side. The coil was out of spec, and the cap and rotor were fried so I replaced those. New fuel filter, the old one was grimy. Now I'm finishing the timing belt job! I didn't tighten the water pump 13mm bolts enough so when I put the coolant through the system it started dripping, PITA. New wheel bearings and hubs for the front, new pads, new water pump tensioner and belt. New bumper without trim picked it up from Jared on here! Also tried out a few different wheel colors and have settled on gloss black. The matte on matte was horrible but I really like the shine. chrome grills. Still haven't tried starting it yet but soon I will. Very excited to see what happens.

Update: for some reason one of the water pump bolts wouldn't get tight or torque and it snapped. So I guess it was tight just didnt feel like it at all. I'm going to buy a small torque wrench and a new bolt. Not having the right tools means don't do it when it comes to torque!! I have an extremely nice precision instruments but that one starts at 50 pounds!

Update 2: got a beam type torque wrench and thought I had an extra water pump gasket but I don't. I'm going to France in 3 days and was so amped to get to see if the e30 would start, but I won't get the opportunity until June 29... Damn. Really dissapointed that I didn't just go get a wrench that could do 16 ft lbs in the first place. $20 I ended up spending anyways. The e30 saga continues lmao I was so close and I messed up big time! Got a new bolt too but it doesn't matter until I get back from France. /bummed

It's an easy paint job! Took maybe ~2 hours if you include sanding the cover and everything. I'm glad you like it! hahaha dude it can be a struggle. What car was your first? Do you have a build thread? I will keep the pics coming when I get back from France! Waiting to board right now all alone going to be gone for three weeks. I'm also going to order 2 water pump gaskets in case I make a mistake again lol. Thanks for the motivation fyr and good look with your car too!

What do you guys think of the silver before the black?

Silver is better imo. I don't like black wheels, especially on white cars. Too "storm trooper."

Yeah. I'm the only one that's allowed to do that.

I was finally able to button everything up after I got home from France. No coolant leaks from the water pump, and I sorted out the overheating issue with a friend. Luckily it wasn't the HG! Today I removed the power steering and my euro lows and US high combo works so far!
I also cleaned up the outside a bit and the black keeps growing on me. There is something about the matte on gloss. Seriously though don't ever paint your car matte white. It's kinda cool because you can see how much work has been on it just from where I've put my hands, but its really bad besides that.

When I got the car I thought it was going to be a short road to inspection, but I was far off. I am actually close now. Just gotta put in the high beams, get some gas and give it a shot. A/c and abs might come out soon. Abs lines are cut and ac is broken and is weight. Even in our mini I don't use the A/c, and this car sounds even better than the turbo 4. Abs is nice but this isn't ever going to be a winter car and if I pushed it hard enough to need the abs everyone within a mile radius would be calling the cops on me for some loud white beater. I also need to aim the headlights and put some air in the tires

Looked up my vin for the first time to try and find the production month, and found out it's an iS?! Stoked on that! I guess the seats and wheel were stock, pretty sweet.
