    92 318i Cabrio vs 05 Dodge Ram.. I lost

88 year old man in an 05 Dodge Ram turned left into KFC in front of me while I was going around 30 mph. Middle of the police investigation, he left to go eat at KFC... Kept telling the cops I was driving too fast when I was not. Oil pan looked fine but oil was leaking, m50tu probably had some oil starvation. I hit him head on into his passenger front wheel/bumper. His truck didn't even budge, e30 took all the impact. About $15k put into her, time to get raped by insurance.

Aww. Sorry for your loss. Was hoping to see your car in person one day. Hope you get top dollar from insurance.

What a waste. Sorry for your loss. Sounds like you are physically okay though, and that's what is ultimately most important,

Damn so sorry to see this. Best of luck with the insurance fight! I'd recommend hiring an appraiser on your own.

Thanks, I'll look into an appraiser, waiting on the offer insurance gives me first.

Thanks for the concern guys. Seeing a chiropractor tomorrow. Whiplash sucks. I'll start looking for an appraiser. If his insurance wants to give me some ridiculous offer for the car, should I find a lawyer? Hired a personal injury lawyer but he doesn't deal with property damage. I've had a splitting headache since the accident so I'm in no mood to deal with his insurance.

Also, I'll be switching from esurance to AAA when my policy ends. I gave him a damn 1080p video of the accident the same day and they're still figuring it out. At least get them to pay for a rental car! I'm all ears for any advice, this is my first accident where the other party is trying to pass the blame.

I hope you get covered and the old man doesn't get away with this.

I'm going to install the dashcams that are sitting beside me into both cars this weekend after reading about your misfortune.

I'm sure it is fixable but I doubt insurance will think it's worth it. Has a salvaged title, 190k, I think it says $2-3k on KBB. The motor is kaput. Oil pan didn't look cracked but when the tow truck was winching it up 10w60 was pouring out the back of the motor. I think the crank took most of the impact.

Right off the bat went saying I was going too fast, wasn't in the mood to "talk". Pointed at my dash cam, he shuts up and walks away. Not another word. He just bought that truck, still had some habla espanol used car lot plates on it.

I've hired a personal injury lawyer, start seeing the chiropractor tomorrow, -$250 today in the emergency room. I've been slightly nauseous, headache non stop, back, neck pain is pretty solid, arms, knee not as bad. Tried to go to work today but by the time I got to Livermore my back was killing me, came back home. I'm a vendor/driver, drive between 250-500 miles a day, three days a week at least. Was only able to sleep 4 hours last night. Doctor wouldn't give me any sleeping pills or pain meds, just said to take 400mg ibuprofen. Said I couldn't take anything stronger if I had to drive anyways and that's when pains the worst.

Yeah I had it up for sale, was going to replace the top, get smogged, and raise the price to $10k, $12k if I had to put new cats/vanos starting next month. Definitely get those cams in! I would've 100% lost this case if I didn't have proof. Most of my family and friends are convinced they need one too now.

I was going to turn right at the light, wasn't expecting someone to cut in front of me from two lanes away. I always check for pedestrians on that corner and if I can squeeze between cars to turn right. It looks like I had time to stop but it happened very quickly, I think the wide lens makes it look that way? I'd always think they had so much time to move in those Russian dash cam videos on Youtube lol now I know. Speed limit is either 25 or 30, it varies.

I'm really worried about how they're going to value my car, or if they're going to make it a 50/50 case. Don't know what to do. Esurance mentioned it may be a 50/50 case, but that's complete BS. Police even said it's illegal to turn left unless it's completely safe to do so, regardless of the oncoming drivers "speed".

Fairly certain he wanted to play it out like I was going "way too fast!" since I was in a "sporty car". Like I ran the off ramp light and hit him on purpose.

So what should I do if they won't give me anywhere near the value of my car, or if they split it 50/50? KBB says $1,969 in excellent, clean title condition LMAO. Appreciate all the help and concern, I'm just clueless when it comes to stuff like this.

Damn that's terrible! Now I feel like an ass for bashing the price of cars. He's totally at fault, you had the right of way. The dash cam wide angle totally makes it look different than real life.

Find all your receipts, itemize every part you out in to it. That's all a loss, and insurance pays for that. Find anything that shows how much time you've put into it. Time is money man, get your worth!

If I'm not mistaken, you had the car for sale on Craigslist? What a shame man, I hope everything works out and you get your asking price before this happened.
