I hope you reported that to the police. That will guarentee that either him or his parents insurance pays up for all the damages.

From the looks of it you are going to have to get a body shop to replace that rear panel and repaint the back half of the car, prabably run you around 2-3g's, so it looks as if someone's parents are going to be pretty pissed.

Good thing you got the fucker!

ouch, my car got hit in the same place by this douche bag coming out a parking spot. sadly i didn't get any money from insurance because they said i failed to yield...while i was in the left lane on a two lane road. this piece of shit was all the way on the right in a parking spot.

anyways i would find out who this kids parents are and speak directly to them..and force them to pay. small claims could be your last resort.

to respond to the post above...he won't need a new quarter panel the damage isn't that severe, im pretty sure a good body shop will be able to pull that out.

goodluck man, i hope that bitch pays up!

Fucking nice work chasing the asshole down. I would have had a hard time stopping at talking to him.

Hope it works out for you.

Good luck with getting the other guy to pay, and not having your car totalled by insurance either way.

Also, good luck with the cops since I guess you technically fled the scene of an accident? (as did the other guy, obviously) and explaining how you physically cornered the guy off with your car. I feel for you man, but cops can be dicks sometimes and I'm sure most wouldn't like either side of that story.

It seems to me like that will be more than 2-3 g's. If you have time and space you could get the cash from the guy part out that car and have a big ass pot of money for an e30. It would take time an effort but you could come out ahead. Thats just my imput, i hope it works out for you. What was the guy driving?

that won't be more than 1.5k for sure. i have worse damage than that and i was quoted $750 painted by a very reputable body shop.

^ i had a dent about the size of a basketball in my door. Insurance paid 850 bucks including a used door. Looks like shit after they painted and replaced. I trusted the shop that did it, but never again.

yeh insurance will give a quote for OEM parts...it would cost me $1,172 to fix the quarter panel damage that i have. Thats without actually factoring in a new quarter panel. The quote they gave me includes labor costs...something like 14 hours of labor on the body @ $45 an hour and then 4 hours for refinish @ $45 an hour as well. that totalled to about $840 and thats not including tax. The actual "part replacement" cost is $160 the rest were taxes..

you just need to find a shop that'll do good work and won't rip you a new asshole. its all about connections man...
