opened-top cars are banned by most bmw clubs and others, and that should be no car to really learn on. how expensive is it to run? how expensive to replace? do you even know what DEs are?

ideal DE car is reliable, dependable, easily replaceable, cheap to buy, cheaper to maintain, cheap consumables/cheap tires, moderate horsepower, sufficient brakes, LSD is excellent, RWD more fun, well holding seats, decent gas mileage, good aftermarket support... e30 satsifies those things.
a civic with a b16a and lsd, and some recaro ITR seats are all that minus being RWD. 240 great car as well. MR2 hardtop. Integra. RX-7... awesome choices for HPDEs..
and so are team dynamic wheels, for all of them!
