I advise against tucking the bumpers. I avoided damaging my car because the bumper shock did what it was supposed to do and compressed.

or you could just not hit stuff

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

Maintance items first, then suspension mods. Most will tell you this is the best way to treat an old car. Lots of potential.

                  Keep it slideways!!

You have control over something like this, right? Besides, someone backed into me in a parking lot and didn't leave a note. It cost me 5 bucks to fix it with a bumper shock at pick-n-pull. Otherwise, it could have cost me hundreds in bodywork (or lots of my time). No thanks.

Besides guys - this is a chick's car. I'm sure it's "cute" enough as it is.

Psh - tuck em. An extra inch won't make a difference. And, if someone hits you in a parking lot - if they hit you hard enough, it'll damage other stuff anyway.

                      TUCK! lol

That's what defensive parking is for. You'll find me at the end of the lot, at an end spot, about 1 inch from the curb. And ALWAYS a truck next to me BARELY on his line. grrr

                      Welcome to R3V.

                      TJ - I say 2 weeks. ;)

I concur. But for even more important reasons.

Fellas, I know I may be a bit older than most here, but I'd rather go with safety than looks. Most should be able to understand how bumper shocks can be designed to absorb impact/energy. That effort you are using to move this in is eliminating a crash/safety feature of your cars.

If you get in an accident, more force/energy will be transmitted to you and your passengers because of this "mod".

I know I would care for my passengers enough to look a little less cool in order for their safety, and also for the well being of my wife and kids. I need to think of what's best for their future and my safety, not just how my car looks. Do what you guys want, but I'd advise against it.

Not a chance. The shocks are there for a reason. I wont compromise the car.

Where I live, the people who park at the end of the lot are targets for getting keyed. I love this car, but part of its beauty is its a 4 door and it blends in.

I think you'd be hard pressed to consider the 5MPH bumpers a 'safety feature'. Above 5mph they aren't doing anything for impacting energy so I wouldn't worry on that front.
