All 86's were big bumpered "eta's" ..the best that you could hope for is that at least its a 2-door with 5-spd .

    Heres my 86' eta :

There is still plenty that you can do to them though .
You can spruce up the outside with "is" or "es" ft spoilers or any number aftermarket spoilers for the early models .
Or you could update the ft valance and bumpers with the later model plastic bumpers that are body colored .

Good luck with the purchase and post q's if you have them .
Alsp get up some pics if you can and tell us the asking price of it .

Judging from that pic I would say stay away and hold out for something better .

It looks like it has a $200 Maaco or Earl Schieb style of paint job .
They painted all of the trim , bumper , bumper surround and impact strip as well as the plastic lower valance .

For that asking price you should get a decent early "i" or a nice "es" .

yeah i was wondering about the bumper being painted... seemed strange after seeing all the pics on this site. Ill definatly hold out probably i have about 2,200 saved up now and by the end of the summer it should be 3,500 and ive seens some decent I's for that price.

            thanks for the help though

This is my '86 325es. I paid $2500 for the car nearly bone-stock, minus a Z3 1.9 SSK, Magnaflow muffler, and basketweaves:

Hahaha .....yeah I actually chose that background on purpose .
Check out my filename . :D

Oh and as far as the chalkboard look ....I never thought of it like that .
Just some old ass faded primer that the PO slapped on there .
I'm considering painting that car with a flattening agent to give its final color a sort of semi-gloss/satin look .
