wire tucked all wiring coming out of the fusebox,
    relocated diagnostic connector
relocated c101 connector inside the m3 harness cover
relocated 3 relays on the bracket to the firewall
    relocated coil
    removed cruise control
    removed ac
removed power steering pump & reservoir, lines looped
    removed windshield wiper reservoir
    removed throttle body heater
    removed cosmoline
I need to replace the coolant tank.

working on the battery tray area next
I purchased new exhaust manifold gaskets and the down pipe gasket, just haven't gotten around to installing them

I actually dont like the minimalism. For me the more complicated the better.

You can just route the fuse box wires into the fender. Some of the wires will need to be lengthened, but not many.

only thing remaining is the hood latch.

Paying a shop to take your freon which is worth more than their labor seems silly, but sadly is the law.

Now in real life, the last three bmw's I've owned of this vintage had non operational a/c. When the schrader valves were pressed NO pressurized anything came out. So chances are these cars went about evacuating the freon into the atmosphere on their own through bad o-rings over the course of 30 years. Unbolt and throw away.

I'm not advocating you do this.... but a fella can easily see if his system is at all pressurized by hitting the schrader valves momentarily to see if there is anything in the lines to worry about....
