I want to further my last piece of advice to this: Don't hire Mexicans from Compton, Ca to do anything car-related if you have any doubts in your mind. They will let you down.
This isn't a racist statement, but it is generalized. I'm being let down over and over again from guys who say they can do a thing, and that thing is done very incorrectly. The latest situation is the beltline trim. I finally got to installing it and with that came initial inspection. I should have counted all the pieces and inspected them a month ago when I got them back from the "polishers", but I didn't. Well, I'm missing two pieces for my car, and I've gained four pieces from someone else's car. How do you rectify this situation? You cut your losses and buy new parts. That's about all I can do.
But I've been working like mad on this little tii. It's starting to take serious shape, and it's looking good. I put another 15 hours into the paint to try to correct things that the painter did wrong. I'm bitter about that too, because I shouldn't have to do more work on that front. Oh well, moving on.
Here are a few photos of developments over the last few weeks.
Firstly, I found a perfect front bumper, so that was swapped on.
Then a much better two piece dash with only a single crack. That was a nice score as well.
Next I pulled off the headlight buckets and gave everything a deep scrub, before the grilles went back on.
Also managed to mostly finish the trunk and rear panel. Looking good now.
Also sold the Borrani wheels and picked up a set of ultra rare Campagnolo Ragno wheels in 13x6. These are in completely original condition. I will run them on the tii.
Then I cleaned them up and installed valve stems.
