Replaced the turn signal stock with one from a 73 parts car. Everything works swimmingly.

    New on on top,
old one on bottom. Notice how it's held together with a zip tie.

Stripping for paint. All glass is coming out, all trim removed, door locks, etc.

Should be ready to go in by tomorrow.

Not much to report here. The car should be painted by next week's end. I'll refrain from posting photos until it's done, but my painters are doing good work. I've been checking in once a week and things are starting to come together.

Before I sent the car over, I ripped out most of the interior since the seats are out being redone, and everything will be replaced to one degree or another. I have fresh seats, carpet, lower dash, center console, and a myriad of other parts. I have opted to redo the headliner at a later date as BMW is currently on backlog with their 2002 headliners.

The engine bay is also looking sad. I decided that because I didn't pull the motor for a complete repaint, but I still want the bay to look good, I am only painting up until the engine bay goes from horizontal to vertical. All horizontal top layers will be redone, but the engine bay walls will be resprayed at a later date, when I can remove the engine and really get in there.

I had a dream the other night about a fresh tii, so I decided to prepare and send out some spare injection system parts for rebuild/refresh. All will be reconditioned to some degree.

This is a B-1 Kfish unit that was date-stamped 1971. These have been reported to flow more fuel, which is what this motor needs.

Injectors will be redone, kfish to be rebuilt (not sure if it's needed, but it's a small insurance against future potential catastrophes), and spare tii dizzy will be sent out for rebuild/recurve to correlate with california's shitty gas, the 284 Schrick cam, 10:1 european tii pistons, and compression/leakdown numbers. Oh and I'll send out two warm-up regulators for general reconditioning as well.

I remain excited and optimistic. My patience is wearing thin, but I won't say anything to those doing the work. Last thing I want is a rushed job.

Update: Car is officially painted with two-stage Malaga Red paint. Back to the basics with her. I won't see progress til Wednesday or Thursday, but from what I understand, the paint laid great. A few long days of drying and curing before the painters start on wetsand and buffing. Once completed, then the headliner goes in, and finally the rear glass. I'll then have the car transported to the garage where I'll begin reassembly.

I'm excited at progress. I've been slaving away in the garage preparing and purchasing all new parts/seals/gaskets/anything I can to make this thing nice.

ak- is finishing up the front seats which I should have back next week as well.
I'll send the heater core out for pressure testing and rebuild the whole core.

I don't have many photos, but I expect to get a whole lot of work done in a matter of a week or two.

Been cleaning a bunch of the mechanical parts you'll never see, but are extremely important. I'll pick and choose the best of everything and use them on this tii.

Brand new Roundie tail light lense$

Deep cleaning extra door latch assemblies and trunk latch assemblies. Oh and the hood rod mechanism.

In the middle of rebuilding the windshield wiper mechanism. It will be bigger, faster, stronger.

The last time I saw the car, pre-paint. I had a spare hood redone, as the one on the car had rust on the leading edges that I saw unfit for the car. A fresh hood was in order.

I also deep cleaned the rear seat in preparation for a new interior. New year new me

                      Before:

During (I took a photo of my new iphone case because I recently fixed the shattered screen due to an iphone case exactly like this. Basically I won't protect anything, kind of like Condoms against AIDS):

After. It looks like there was some upholstery work completed at some point. Can't expect congruency from a 43 year old car:

I hope that my next update post shows a car that looks more like a car.

Finished product. Pulled completely apart, regreased everything, did some painting, and all back together. Should add 2 hp to the wiper motor.

Then I replaced the rear quarter b-pillar rubber seals. All OEM seals, just like my women.

                        Fresh Seal 1:

                        Fresh Seal 2:

Closer and closer. The finish line is near.
