update from my laguna seca trip with tyler (apexgoblin)
to see the Super Bike World Championship
left early 3:08am friday morning. I HATE hate HAte traffic, and this car with out AC and with the light weight flywheel. i rather be tired and cranky versus boiling hot and stuck in la traffic.

I ended up having car problems at the top of the grapevine. The car was having an electrical or fuel cut out.
watch the tach and the check engine light
tyler and I pulled over at a gas station and we were bouncing ideas of each other.
we removed his ignition coil and tried it on mine car.
we drove around for 10 minutes and it made a huge difference.
We put pulled back into the gas station and installed his coil back in his car and my crappy one back into my engine.
we called a bunch of auto parts stores north of us to find one that had a ignition coil in stock.
We found one in town a little north of Salinas which meant we had to drive from the bottom of the grapevine near Bakersfield all the way past Salinas.
Once we pulled into autozone we installed the new coil. It was a short 30 minute drive to laguna seca.
unfortunately it still wasn't fixed. wayyy better
but still not fixed.
thanks to Robert from e30 Motorwerks he helped me trouble shoot the car and documents made up by jlieve for motoronic trouble shooting.
A seriously BIG thank you to these 2

and she gave us a tour of her 18 wheeler and the private look out area from the top of the truck

first time seeing this type of small bike.
its called a Honda Grom. this one had been tastefully modified. wouldn't mind owning one;D

tylers uncle was volunteering as a medic at laguna seca and we got invited for nice catered dinner after the races Saturday night.

back to trying to repair my car.
Robert recommended trying my spare crank position sensor.
problem was i didn't have any Allen wrenches with me.
near our campsite there were 2 bmw motorcycles.
i talked them and they rolled out this bitchen tool kit he let me use the allen wrench i needed.
unfortunately it didn't fix the problem.
when i test drove it the problem was still there.
When the engine looses timing data its common for the tach to drop.
I was sad when the different crank position sensor didn't fix the problem.
robert recommend to ground pin 85 only by shoving a wire in the socket and pushing the relay back over it and grounding the wire locally.
this would bypass the dme for proving ground to the fuel pump relay.
didn't work on that test drive:hitler:
so i removed the additional ground on pin 85 and made a jump harness out of a inline fuse holder and 2 male crimp pins. i jumper-ed pin 30 and 87.
test drove for an hour near Monterrey.
the problem didn't happen in that test drive so i thought i got it.

heading home
hoping trouble free

not quite trouble free
same problems the whole way home.
stopped at tylers house on the way home and picked up a spare
BMW metal crank position sensor
Dme computer
stock chip
throttle position sensor
new crank sensor didn't fix it

it was the freaking computer. it took a crap on this trip. this car is my daily driver and never misses a beat but on this nice road trip it decided it had enough!:hitler:
this little fucker was the culprit of all my troubles.
i was lucky to make it to laguna seca and back
installed tylers spare DME and drove around orange county for an hour.
canyon driving
low speed
low load
highway cursing
highway flying
wot rips
no problems WOOHOOO
