Glad I got to the timing belt quick - it had stretched a bit, the timing marks were a bit off. It runs more smoothly now that they are precisely lined up. It was likely overdue. Well, time to go out for Halloween with my wife in the bimmer!

If work goes well in the next few months hopefully I'll move to a house with a better shop situation and maybe do a complete tear-down and rustproofing, plus fresh paint. We'll see.
Also need shadowline yesterday.

Pity about the wheel wells, but I'm sure you'll get it fixed OP.

I did find some rust behind the left rear suspension mount point that barely made it through to the support for the trunk - not sure what that's called. It being a few inches away from the suspension mounting point is scary, but at least the suspension mount is clean.
Now however, after filling the tank completely, I smell gas around the rear end. The list of little problems is getting longer every day, but I'm looking forward to fixing most if not all of them eventually.
Cosmetic
Dashboard crack starting in parcel tray in front of passenger
Windshield cracked, lower left corner
Cooling hoses odd/non original

Positive battery terminal replaced with bolt on aftermarket
Original radiator
Mechanical/Engine
Timing belt - Done
Noisy valves, need adjustment
No catalytic converter
Left inner tie rod slight play
Power steering pump seeps
Oil pan gasket seeps
Smells of oil/burns oil?

Throttle cable stretched
Handbrake barely function
Right rear tire wear abnormal

That whine is definitely your fuel pump. Mine made the same noise before slowly dying. I installed a TRE 255 the car's idle and parking lot speed driving improved (less bucking). It's also very quiet.

He's actually married so if you want his wife's FB link let me know so you can tell on him.
I don't do Facebook, but you can give his wife's Facebook to my wife and they can fight it out.
