nice car man. i once took a mega bus from los angeles to san francisco to buy an IX. when i got there the guy had stripped most the items from the car and i was basically screwed because he had told me the car was in good shape and would drive. Glad you made it back safely without any issues.

That's awful. I basically talked to the guy for a month before I bought a flight, luckily everything went smoothly.

Nice! Looks good (in the dark at least :D )

Pretty gusty effort driving 14 hours and at 100mph?! when you don't really know the maintenance history of the car... Personally I'd have sat on 55 all the way just to be safe

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have done that, but I couldn't resist TBH.

              Another photo of the lady.

Probably won't have time to take decent photos of the car for a bit because my brother came to town on short notice. I also want to do the timing belt and clean it up before I drive it somewhere worthy of photos.

Does this sound like a fuel pump to anybody else?

I'm pretty sure it's a fuel pump. Once I've got the timing belt done I think I'll try to clean out the gas tank a bit and decide what kind of fuel pump to get.

Recommendations? I am considering a walbro for potential future upgrades, but I think it requires a bit of modification and might potentially be noisy...

                  To be continued.

he's saying 100 American mph, not Australian mph ;)

Did the boiled linseed oil and paint thinner treatment on some of the plastics. Will do a better job later on everything, but this trial run was impressive.

Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, found some cancer in areas around the wheel wells too.

Ok, I'll resize them again - from 25% back up to say...200% of original size sound good? I want you to have to buy a couple extra monitors just to see my posts in their entirety.

Zinno is such a lovely color. I'm doing a similar sort of restoration to my 318is that I've had for a few months. It too had some rust, but only in weird interior spots since it had an extremely leaky trunk.

I'm not feeling quite ready to tackle my rust issues. Maybe after I've driven it for a while. Don't want to take the whole thing apart right away.
