    Done been R3v'd

    Hi guys,

Happy thanksgiving! I was rear-ended on Tuesday at about 30 mph. I'll be getting some estimates this weekend, but wanted to post pictures here to get your thoughts on the damage

    Album here

What are the proper steps to take from here? Talking to my insurance agent, without him even seeing the damage he said it'll likely be totaled. I've begun collecting advertisements of 87is' in my region as I assume I'll need to fight for the proper value. Is this too hard to save? My dad wants to try to fix it. Do I need to check for frame damage? Anyone have State Farm and have experience and advice with this they could share?

I had just gotten the car back on the road after tracking down a vacuum leak, so this really hurts. Any help is appreciated

    Thanks,
    Dean

EDIT: Trying to get the photos to embed, until then the imgur album is working

I think the car will very likely be totaled, but it's worth buying back and fixing it yourself if you're able to, especially if you can negotiate with your insurance company to avoid a salvage title.

My car was hit in that spot before I bought it, and it was totaled. I doubt it has frame damage, and that is really not bad damage. I think the biggest thing here will be avoiding a salvage title.

at the very least, it would make a good racecar shell. Definitely fixable though.

My brother's car also has rear panel damage, the repairs look pretty straightforward. Should be able to massage that corner out to avoid quarter replacement.

doesn't look too bad. Looks like you can pull it out with a 2x4 and a come-along. Did your passenger C pillar have that dent before?

Looks like the impact missed the frame rails so it should still be fixable. My parent's e30 took a hard direct hit to the bumper which totally crumpled the frame and totaled it.

It's a total loss, doesn't mean it's not fixable. means that the bottom line is cost more to fix than the dollar value to the insurance agency.

Tough for a car without proper insurance. Work with Dad, he is probably willing to fight a bit being he's probably lost a car in his youth that he deemed fixable. I'm a Dad so I know the routine as well. Lost some cool car to insurance cesspool.

As a former state farm employee... Good luck! Start building your case for value, because to the non-enthusiast insurance person or team handling your claim, it's just a 30 year old heap.
