Looking good - congrats on getting the car to daily driver status. Your thread has been very helpful in planning my swap, particularly the info on the AC lines, booster vac hose and throttle cable.

Thanks man! Well I got back into town yesterday from a little vacation so today it was time to get back rolling on this project. I actually planed on pulling the engine from my E34 touring (has rod knock, previous owner) but decided to work on the Mtech.

Engine bay is looking much better now. I got the M3 harness covers installed, fuel injector cover installed, the caps which hide the fasteners for the coil/ fuel injector covers, and a few other various bits. Tomorrow I'm going to mess with an airbox idea I have in mind, stay tuned..

I’m selling a complete Castro air box kit, brand new still wrapped. Let me know if you’re interested

I’d like someone to actually use it, seems like the last piece needed for that engine bay. Keep up the good work

Dang! Appreciate the offer man but I don’t have a 3.5 MAF so it’s not going to fit :(

Go for a stock airbox. You can cut it to fit with an adapter and silicone coupler. Not much beats stock.

Hell yeah! Here is mine. I used a MAF adapter plate and made that fit. I used some rtv to air lock it. Then the silicone to attach the maf to the box. Plan is to go black at some point vs the blue.

This is exactly what I was planning to do for my engine. Details?

I know there is a MAF adapter plate available on Ebay but was not sure if it would work with the stock BMW MAF.

Looks like it fits really well.

Thanks man. Yup, looks like that's what jennyus used in his set up, I actually didn't even know they made an adapter plate till now or I would have tried that first.. BUT I don't think an adapter plate would work in our situation anyways. Reason why, the adapter plate is only going to extend the MAF further out then needed which may cause problems trying to attach the intake boot. Oh, and the upper radiator kiss's the airbox.. going to mess around with that on the weekend.

In my case I cut a hole the same size as the MAF and used some fancy looking fastens to attach it to the intake box (along with sealant on the inside to keep it "air tight". I think it came out pretty clean.

And in other news, I drove around with the top off today :D

I originally tried to set it up that way because i had the same issue with the MAF housing, but eventually used the adapter from the backside of the airbox and that gave me just enough space to make it all work.

I think yours turned out fantastic. Especially with the whole OEM+ theme you have going on. Great work mate.

Thanks for the close-up pic - it shows exactly the detail I was curious about - and it looks great.

I need to dig out my MAF and filter housing to see how it all fits up. I ordered the adapter on ebay (they are cheap) so I have all options available for mock-up.

Why didn't you go with the s52/m52 headers? They're lighter and direct bolt to s50 motor. Amazing work btw. You definitely made the swap look very OEM

Updates.. So I've put on roughly 2,000 miles since doing the swap and everything's doing good . Today I had a chance to install a e30 M3 check panel, I saw it posted locally on Craigslist. E30 M3's didn't have a oil level sensor and neither does my convertible, figured I'd install one of these to fully delete the oil level sensor.

You can see the check panel doesn't have the "Engine Oil" check.
