Thanks guys. They are my favorite too, but here they dont get much love because everyone wants BBS wheels... I hate cleaning BBS wheels and I like to be different. I regretted not buying them when I was in high school and they were brand new. I didnt want to wait for them to get delivered from Japan so I bought some other BS wheels for my mk3 GTI VR6 (circa '99). When I bought my first E30, a 86 zinno ES and found these wheels relatively closeby, I knew I wanted them and I wasnt going to let them go easily. They went on the Aluminum Monster when I bought it and sold the ES, then I sold the Aluminum Monster with them, but told him I wanted them back if he ever bought new wheels. A month later, they are back with me :) I went through extra effort to get extra wheels and now have 5 that are all the same offset and size.
Unfortunately the studs didnt arrive today, so they will go on tomorrow. Also, Im going to weigh the outgoing 16x8 ESM wheels with the 205/50 Goodyear Eagle Tires and will also weigh the 16x7 SSR with the 225/45 Dunlop tires on them.
Any bets how much weight I will save per wheel? I have an idea

SSRs are one of my favorite wheels. I can't wait to see them on your e30!Leave a comment:

~Somewhat related. I love SSR Type-C's and use to run them on my Subaru. They're some of my favorite wheels out there and insanely light!

well, when you learn you learn.... and just pay your friends and avoid the red tape... espeically with a M54. It could be made legal, but whats the pointLeave a comment:

I think the M54 6 speed is perfect for the e30 (Thats what I want to do) but I don't even want to think of the nightmare it will be to get it CA legal.Leave a comment:

I would love a turbo diesel, but living in CA and trying to keep it as legal as I can, it will be a M20Leave a comment:

Yea I cant wait. It looks like my studs might arrive today, so I might just have to install them tonight. We'll see.
Im not going to lie and tell you that this hasnt been in my mind.
Ive even been thinking an M54 with the 6speed would be a wonderful daily, and that technically qualifies as Aluminum Monster 2.0
At this point, none of those things is happening because #1: The Aluminum Monster is alive and well and terrorizing P-Cars. (He sold the SSRs because he bought some 10" wide wheels) and #2: I have to finish the Datsun before any wild ideas go anywhere with this car.
I AM a weight weenie, as dubbed by Charlie, so Im looking for effective ways to cut weight and these wheels will be a nice drop in both rotating mass and unsprung weight. No Fatty Magoo here :hitler:Leave a comment:
