Older Nissans are rock solid reliable. My 93 Pathfinder (back when SUVs were real trucks unlike today) took whatever I threw at it and came out purring like a kitten. My pops bought it new, changed the oil once a year, gave it to me with 200k, and it never once left him or I stranded.

As Bill mentioned, it will look like crap with the two valances showing, I will be fabbing up plates and welding them together as to not have this gap.

I finally got back into the E30 building game.
Thanks, Trent. I totally agree with what you and Bill are saying about the 2 valences showing, we'll fab up something to hide that once we get a little further into the project.

I think the rivet idea will be more than enough support. It will look great once finished.

People never believe me when I tell them that my car is an '86, they always think it's like a '90/91. I can't wait to get these bumpers and valences on, it's going to make it look even better. When I'm finished, I'll have essentially my dream E30 (body-wise), late model bumpers and valences with early tails and rear fender arches.

I'll let you know when we get started Daniel, it would be cool to have your help and have you be in on the process.

If you use self etching primer and fiberglass resin where needed you can avoid rust issues easily. Just as long as you do not use aluminum rivets since they tend to oxidize when in contact with bare metal over time.

Rivets, however... ugh. I've never been to OR so I don't know how bad the winter weather is or if they salt the roads, but that sounds like a great way to get some really kickass hidden rust, IMO.
Yeah I'm with this guy. If it were me I would find a way to seal this shit up. A good bondo job and some primer should be good to make this job really clean.
